“We wanted a message of unity,” organizer Dayne Webb, youth chair of the Kalamazoo Young Republican Party, said at the vigil event, WWMT reports. “You know that’s what Charlie was all about, is bringing people together, no matter if they disagreed or agreed.

HAHAHA WHAT

They are so delusional

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 41 points 1 day ago

I think they misinterpreted a call to "round people up" as "bringing people together."

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (2 children)

bringing all the bigots together?

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 42 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No, not even all the bigots could agree. One of them disagreed so much he shot Kirk through the throat.

Nick says no

Well, ya know, trans people aren't people so, ya know, oh, and them colored folk, they aren't really people neither, maybe 3 fifths -2/3rds at most - of a person, but not actually a real person, so, ya know, and them queers, well, they're just demons, so can't count them, so, ya know, charlie loved all the people.

JFC, the least amount of awareness.

"Bringing people together" is MAGA code for "Do what you're told or we'll kill you."

[–] CouncilOfFriends@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The Klan also brought people together, whether they agreed or disagreed. As long as they agreed that black people were their common enemy.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago

They used to disallow Catholics. Stopped that policy when JFK was elected. There is some hate they're flexible on, but not when it comes to black people.

Would they be fired for refusing to print a KKK poster for a dead member? It's no different.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 83 points 1 day ago (2 children)

And yet we allow pharmacist to refuse to provide plan B without being fired.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago

Yeah, but that's just for JEEEEEBUS.

What a wanking fascists world we live in.

[–] Mediocre_Bard@lemmy.world 67 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Apparently refusing to make a poster is bad, but refusing to make a cake is good. I honestly can't tell which parts of their cult are serious and which are satire at this point.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Or that kentucky fried sack of wet noodles who refused to give out marriage licenses, which was her entire job.

Morality gets defined in terms of what's best for the cult. It's the only consistency.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Don't forget about refusing to dispense prescribed medication as a pharmacist too.

Well one is a labourer, the other a store owner if that helps along.

[–] Ebby@lemmy.ssba.com 65 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Office Depot taking a stance and drawing a line in the sand.

They could have been like Walgreens/CVS who back pharmacists for refusing to fulfill prescriptions based on their personal beliefs.

Wait, what? No! Who's the good guy again? None? Ahhfuck'emall.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago (3 children)

who back pharmacists for refusing to fulfill prescriptions based on their personal beliefs.

Yeah, I remember that crazy shit. That is just so wild - get a prescription from a doctor and have some dipshit who just needs to count out pills decide they need to veto that decision?

The fucking audacity.

[–] Zorcron@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You would be surprised how many prescriptions need to be vetoed by those dipshit pill counters to protect patient safety. That being said, if any medical provider refuses to provide a legitimate treatment that is medically necessary (such as plan B or abortion pills) and not with excessive risk, they need to choose a new profession.

So, to recap: post something politically incorrect in opposition to Kirk - get doxxed, and lose your job. Refuse to support propaganda from supporters of this Nazi - lose your job.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 day ago
  1. Go to office depot to demand they print a pic of kirk in Nazi regalia.
  2. Demand they also print images of office depot staff as Nazis
  3. ...
  4. Profit
[–] ChonkyLincoln@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 day ago

Could one of our American friends go to office depot and try to print a massive swastika and see if they refuse. Please. I will pay.

[–] GroundedGator@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago

Probably yes.

I used to work for another office store that has since been absorbed into this one. There was an extreme white supremacist who ran a "church" in the area. My first manager told him we would not make his copies but he could use the self-serve machines. A few of my coworkers did not appreciate this stance and may have taunted him a bit.

A new manager came in and asked him why he was using the self-serve and invited him to use our copy services. Most of the department walked out that day.

The materials were what amounted to white supremacy lightly vailed as religion.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 51 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Never be honest about things like this. “We were having problems earlier. Would you be alright with tears, smudging, and crumpling? If not come back in a couple of days and we’ll have it sorted out.”

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Oh no, somebody shit all over it repeatedly throughout the weekend by accident. Don't worry, you can barely tell. Had one of my colleagues wrap it up for you and put it in your car when you came in so you're all set.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 day ago

"Sorry, somehow a hole got poked through the neck on this poster"

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not that I didn't agree with your sentiment, but those could impact their future employment somewhere else. Although I have played pretend manager of a fictional restaurant for a friend before.

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago (2 children)

“Can you explain this gap in your resume”

“I was providing full time care for a critically ill family member”

There’s no database of jobs you’ve held in your life. Getting fired only screws you over if you tell the next place that you got fired. If they do a check and find posts, just says it’s a different person with your name. Also, stop cataloging your life on social media for anyone to research, it has never helped anyone.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 9 points 1 day ago

Wait, you mean I don't really have a permanent record that I'm never allowed to see, following me through my life? But they always said "it would go on my permanent record." Now you're saying they were lying?

Sounds like some “sincerely held beliefs” if you ask me.

[–] Amberskin@europe.pub 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That guy is a hero. Please someone set up a fundraiser for him.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If this guy were right wing, they'd make him a celebrity, fund his legal case up to the supreme court, and let him grift for the rest of his life on it. We could learn a thing or two.

Fascism is Capitalism's immune system. The wealthy use it to protect their grip on society, particularly when large scale factors like a pandemic, war, or poor leadership put that grip at risk it.

[–] collar@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (5 children)

I might be in the minority here, and I have lost zero sleep over Kirk’s death, but I don’t really want or need Staples/Office Depot workers to decide what should and should not be considered propaganda, and therefore printable material.

Just print my shit.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 39 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It's the hypocritical asymmetric application of the policy that's the issue here. Employers are retaliating against non-fascist workers for refusing to do work supporting fascist ideology at exactly the same time as they're rabidly defending fascist workers refusing to do work that goes against fascist ideology.

The optics on this are crazy. Sure the worker refused to do their job, but Office Depot could have used way more tact. I have no sympathy for whatever happens to them, but that can be said of all corporations.

Y'all motherfuckers need a Union!

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Will office depot print my neo-nazi propaganda? I always thought they'd refuse but now am considering otherwise./s

Good to see people taking a stand against this monster.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Sue them. Sue them good and hard.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Is there a gofundme for this guy

[–] Pistcow@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If I ever were to go to Office Depot I sure wouldn't now. I guess my 40 year streak will continue.

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Good for them. They did the right thing and will find work from a local who catches this.

Office Depot gonna take a small hit for this one. Target has had it rough too from all angles.
