Worried about medicaid cuts? Just stop getting/being sick, duh!

It's really that simple!

Alternatively, you could stop being so poor. Simple as that!

This is the whole crux of MAHA. Make health a completely personal choice by denying any external causes of disease and then when you completely cut any possible health assistance then that's fine because health is a completely personal choice and responsibility and people should just try harder to he healthy

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 36 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Didn't forget the part where you get to blame people for their own illness! Being sick now becomes a moral failing because you didn't do enough to stay healthy.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 day ago

Being sick now becomes a moral failing because you didn't do enough to stay healthy

But if you do try to stay healthy (e.g. wearing a mask and social distancing during cold and flu season) you're a $insult_of_the_week

It's "prosperity gospel" but for health instead of wealth. I'm healthy because I'm a good person and you're not because you're a bad person. It's literally the same talking points too. Point at the minority of folks in a demographic who actually make genuinely bad decisions and apply that to the group as a whole.

He is completely wrong, while being right too. Americans could benefit from a better diet.

Maybe the American government could provide proper health care and not support junk food industry.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Americans could benefit from a better diet.

Sadly, yes, living a healthier lifestyle is going to be a person's best option in the wake of health care being even more enshittified.

Hard to do in a nation where there are food deserts, gym memberships a luxury, and the nearest health care provider is upwards of 50 miles away.

This, to me, stinks of the same garbage people are fed about recycling, when we all know that it's the billionaire class and their institutional, astronomical waste and energy usage that is the real problem, not individuals tossing out the dozen soda cans they drink in a week.

yeah taking out the grain subsidies and moving them over to fruit and veg based on lowness of sugar content and highness of fiber and nutrient content. That might be something to do.

Yes. Let's actually put some reigns on the food industry, sugar in bread is not normal. Also walkable places that have public transport, but the Auto and Food industries have the Government of America by the short and curlies.

Modern "Let them eat cake."

These people are so fucking out of touch.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 12 points 1 day ago

This is somehow worse, the "let them eat cake" was said from a very out of touch person who just did not understand. While this is comming from someone who willingly is going out of their way to blame the peasants for the actions that they are doing to those same peasants.

We should just start building guillotines and placing them in town squares. Just as, like, a message.

I got banned from the r-place for saying something like this.

Carry on.

Avocado toast 2.0

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 32 points 2 days ago

That is absolutely useless advice. Guys, if you are worried about the cuts then simply just make more money to give to your insurance companies! Or ask daddy for a bigger trust fund.
See, easy.

Right, I'm tired after giving you that FREE advice so I'm off to my second holiday home for a week or two to recharge my batteries before my annual month summer holiday.

How has that piece of shit not lost his title? Stop calling that imposter a Doctor.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Have Dr Phil and Dr Oz ever had a fake doctor-off? It can be judged by Judge Judy and Bill Nye.

[–] Aspharr@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (8 children)

Time out, why the hate for Bill Nye? Did I miss something or is this just a joke on "people who are less qualified than their titles lead you to believe"? If so, then carry on.

On first read it sounds more like a list of shitty charlatans, of which I wouldn't really apply to Bill even if he's not as qualified as he would imply.

With rhetotic like that, "Dr." Oz may need to start worrying about neck cuts.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I know many red states have been trying to defend Republican Medicaid cuts by blaming residents for being unhealthy.

"We tried to give you healthcare, but it wasn't sustainable bc y'all just don't know how to take care of yourselves."

The cost being unsustainable is pure bullshit anyway, but even if that were true, the idea that when looking at the cost of covering healthcare in the United States, their go to argument for why it's so expensive, places the blame on the patients for needing healthcare.

As if nobody has ever pointed out side by side bills comparing the cost of the same hospital stays in the U.S. vs just about any other county.

Peak authoritarian government acting like a narcissistic parent and gaslighting America into believing the reason they can't take care of their kids is bc the kids are at fault. Not bc they just suck as a parent and shouldn't have kids if they can't take care of them.

I don't think people understand how fucked people who don't fit the societal mold of how their body or mind should function are here in the US, things are about to get very grim in the US, much grimmer than they were. The center of this society has decided what they don't like about Trump and fascism are primarily its harsh tone as he and other rightwing nutjobs murder us. The expression of how little I am worth to the society around me is not lost on me, it is only lost on the centrists who tone police me for being negative about my future.

What societies like mine do as they collapse is tend to see diversity as a threat to the survival of the society, including cognitive diversity. This is a phenomena old as time and centrists have NEVER resisted it once. As someone with severe ADHD it is crystal clear to me a brickwall is heading at me and I know especially with my executive dysfunction there is no way I am dodging it.

I have never been able to hide, if you have a brain like me you knew from a young age it was dangerous to let people think you did weird things because they felt normal to you, so you became the class clown and learned to love it even even as deep down you remember that lesson in your bones you can never forgot. If I let people see how chaotic my brain really is, as in what I turned into a joke was truly me just reacting to my own impulsivenes with clever impulsiveness, they will insist on hurting me, "I have to make this goofy or I will be hurt" is the way I survived.

The thing is, there are no class clowns left in a fascist society, so in a way this is me saying goodbye. I will still be present here for a long time yet, but the true me is dying right now. I am not a creature that can hide, people burst out laughing when I do and then an ache in my soul reminds me of the lesson I can never forget.

I would try cannibalism and eat this man. I think human skin is close enough to pig skin to for us to harvest MAGA bacon.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I can say confidently there isn't a person in this administration I would eat. with the rampant drug use and sex trafficking I don't even want to look at their diseased riddled bodies.

Another notch for "The Age of Irony" in American History. "Let them eat less cake" sounds like a good opener too.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Funnily enough, just had an exchange with someone here about doctors needing to always be empathetic towards their patients so they can't say "get fucked, fascists" and such.

Dr. Oz is a still practicing (to maintain his license) cardiovascular surgeon.

He will be noted in history books to come. What a legacy.
