IIRC, that happened a few months ago, not now. A lot of schools are out for the summer already anyway. School staff did a great job of making the feds fuck off.

[–] LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 85 points 2 days ago (7 children)

If my kids’ school ever handed them over to the feds I’d burn the fucker down myself.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 94 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Now imagine how the parents of Uvalde felt. Police showed up, and not only did nothing, but actively prevented OTHER parents, who were showing up to storm the grounds to shoot the shooter themselves. But the police protected the shooter, causing the deaths of more kids. If memory serves me right, 12 kids had died before parents showed up. And something like 37 died by days end.

Meaning, even if the police did nothing, and allowed the parents to go through, parents would have shot the shooter and saved 25 more kids.

Imagine knowing your kid is dead because police were afraid.

That conservative town that reelected the police chief?

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes, the chief that ran uncontested for 15 years until the most recent vote wherein there were three write-in challengers, won with 45% of the votes.

Recent report I read and heard about was them staking out elementary school "graduations." Caused parents to have to flee, which was rather depressing. The kids are likely birthright citizens, but even then, parents are afraid of deportation without representation (at least, according to interviews by KCRW/NPR).

FYI btw, it's like the last week of school here in LA for most districts, so any of these stories are still very plausible.

[–] aramova@infosec.pub 25 points 2 days ago

You say that like it matters to the fucking Mustard Mussolini.

Can't help wondering how many stone cold rapists and paedophiles are out there pretending to be ICE and kidnapping people.

[–] douglasg14b@lemmy.world 47 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Perfect opportunity for them. Even worse are organized hate groups like KKK and friends

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 24 points 2 days ago

So, the ICE and Police?

What is most disturbing is that most of those are chaotic, disorganized impersonators who therefore got caught.

There are probably calm, professional-looking adults doing this and flying under the radar.

Ted Bundy pretended to be a detective to try to lure at least one girl, but thankfully she escaped. How many others weren't that lucky?

We might see a brief resurgence in serial killers if they start to realize this is a valid tactic, and this shit will get ICE agents shot because many people carry guns specifically for over the top scenarios like these.

I sure as hell would start shooting. In Canada, if someone was actually trying to kidnap someone like that and the victim fired back, their shooting would be justified. They would still go to jail for years for illegally carrying a gun but the actual shooting would be justified. There is precedent for this in Canadian law.

In Annecy, Frnace, there's a plaque on one of the elementary schools where Jewish kids were forcibly removed from class by the ss and taken away. Same shit's starting to happen in America now.

Kill the fascists, disrupt their plans. Fuck them.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 77 points 2 days ago (3 children)

There's gonna be videos of ice shooting children by the time this is all over

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 34 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They'll run into a classroom where kids are drawing, and claim they feared for their lives, because the pens could be used to harm them.

Then they'll get 2-6 weeks paid leave, and be promoted when they get back.

You should train how to use a gun

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Absolutely. I've been shooting periodically since I was a teenager but I could use a refresher.

[–] sudoshakes@reddthat.com 29 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Gold standard:

Be able to draw from concealment and hit a 6” steel circle at 10 yards in under 1.5 seconds. Every time, 10 draws in a row.

Ensure you can perform an elpresidente stage run in 6.5 seconds with all hits in the alpha scoring zone.

You can perform a fast drill in under 7 seconds, 3 times in a row back to back.

Your splits at 7 yards are under 2 tenths.

Your draw, shoot, reload, shoot on a 7 yard 6” steel plate is under 2.5 seconds. 10 times in a row.

Amateurs train until they get it right. Professionals train until they can’t get it wrong.

You always fall in the moment to the level of your training, so absolutely train if you decide to arm yourself. Otherwise you have given someone in power the ability to take lethal force from you and use it against you, or worse, you have misapplied it and harmed someone you did not intend to.

America is completely and utterly fucked. There’s obviously no way Trump will run for president for a third term, but under the new fascist state, there isn’t a constitution to contest for said third term. He’ll be leader until death.

But hey, thank your stupid god that you believe in so firecely that you’ve got that second amendment in your constitution you so adamantly demanded you need for times just like this to have your guns to use and overthrow your tyrannical government. Oh wait. Right; you’re all fucking bark and no bite.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No, it was always a bad-faith argument so they could hold onto tools for killing brown people.

[–] NoStressyJessie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I dunno.. I like having my tools for stopping fascist threats against my person and my fellow trans community

Let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater

Criminals will manufacture weapons regardless, just look at the freedom fighters in Myanmar using FGC Mk.II 3d printed guns.

You can make weapons out of hardware store parts

You can’t make a mill illegal

You won’t take CNC machines

Criminals behavior is the crime, not the knowledge or the means

This would make me go nuclear.

Kidnapping our kids?

You want a primal reaction? This will fast track it.

[–] Tronn4@lemmy.world 36 points 2 days ago (6 children)

They do want that reaction. They're provoking normal people into violence to allow them to show an emergency and thus bring in the entire army

[–] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

It's inevitable that it will happen. Whether someone wants it or not is irrelevant. If children are being kidnapped that's an appropriate response.

You stop them. With smoke if necessary.

[–] Lumisal@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Guess you should let then just take kids then /s

"Test run"? When the fuck do people get that this is real?

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 50 points 2 days ago

You know what can turn a normal parent into a "dOMestIC tERroRIst"?... fucking with their kids

[–] Heikki@lemm.ee 46 points 1 day ago

Remember everyone. Due processes is there to determine if the activity is criminal. You are not a criminal until you have been convicted.

Saying anyone does not deserve due process bc they are a criminal is factually wrong

[–] clonedhuman@lemmy.world 44 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's getting to that point.

Our only option is going to be killing them.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago

It's that or be killed.

Imagine a 1st grader in an El Salvadorian prison. Then remember that Trump's staff is full of eugenicists.
