Israel uses the claimed protection of Druze and some Kurdish people to keep the civil war going. The last thing Israel wants is a peaceful and stable Syria where people live together safely. The talks about "protecting" minorities in Syria is treacherous as Israel needs them to be perpetually under attack to justify its perpetual military presence.

Wasn't Trump convicted before he became president again?

The real scandal is that genocide Joe didn't sign off on releasing the Epstein files. Doesn't matter if with an autopen or by hand. A real president would release the files immediately and have the FBI round up all the people indicted.

I disagree. it matters that people see that other people are outraged too. This is crucial to get protests started

I think you don't understand the thermodynamics well. The evaporating water cools the air. That is the entire purpose. The air gets more wet, but at the same time it gets colder.

Assuming a stationary system state, you have a constant airflow of hot dry air going into the system and a constant airflow of colder more wet air leaving the system. Depending on how fast the one flows in and the other flows out, you will reach a certain point along the vertical absolute water concentration axis, which will define how wet and how cold the air inside the system is. But the more wet the air is, the more cold it also is.

I think you wrongly assume that this spraying happens in a system like a closed greenhouse or a sauna, where the wet air doesn't escape while the heat keeps coming in. But that is not what is happening with these sprayers at all. The wet air escapes easily. Even if there is no airflow by itself the colder more wet air of course is heavier and sinks to the ground, so an air flow is created.

It doesn't matter. Whether you sweat mostly water and it evaporates or water is evaporated to cool down the air around you, it is functionally the same in terms of the possibility of removing heat from your body. However taking external water has the benefit of not requiring your own water, helping you to dry out slower.

collapsed inline media

Lets take the 40°C 30% humidity example. If you go down vertically you end up with saturation at around 19°C. That is still quite fresh. If you take the 50% humidity at 40°C it will saturate at 27°C. Not nice, but still bearable. Anything in between on the vertical lines, so with the amount of water in that air being constant will just result in the same. The cooler it is the more humid it is, but the less humid it is, the better your own sweating can cool you.

Thanks to a concerted media campaign against him, involving a lot of people from the labour party that wanted to ensure Neoliberalism to continue uninterruptedly. The parallels are remarkably close.

Can? Yes. However article 5 only demands countries to bring what they believe is necessary to defend the country that invoked article 5. So if the US sends a firefighting truck and the crew to man it, they could claim to have done enough.

Also for the Iraq invasion, it was easy and there was little to no doubt that the "coalition of the willing" among them Poland and other NATO members, would roll in on the back of the US. Poland got itself access to some Iraqi oilfields it could exploit. That was more like a viking raid on a village whose guard is just the local farmer youth.

I think when it comes to the current situation many countries are reluctant to put NATO to the test, as they are scared for NATO to be revealed to be divided and weak.

The tariff guy announced tariffs?! Who could have seen that coming? Especially after ha already had set up tariffs a few month back and gave a 90 day pause for negotiations and that pause now ends. Totally unpredictable.

it is unclear whether the targeted individual is a Palestinian fighter or not. They do not appear to be armed. They are walking along the road alone and do not appear to be posing a threat to anyone.

Open-source analyst Anno Nemo geolocated the footage in Rafael’s post to the al-Tawam area of northern Gaza.

"Based on 2 Google Earth satellite images the video appears to have been taken between 4 June 2024 and 1 December 2024," Anno Nemo said, adding that possible changes are visible in the area on Sentinel satellite imagery from November 2024.

...

"FIREFLY has proven itself in some of the most challenging environments - delivering pinpoint strikes with minimal collateral damage, even in GPS jamming environments and under adverse weather conditions," the weapons company said on Facebook.

The Rafael drone was designed to be used by ground forces in dense urban areas where "situational awareness is limited, the enemy is fighting from behind cover and the effectiveness of fire support elements is reduced by the close proximity of non-combatants".

None of those conditions appear to apply to the video posted by Rafael. The drone is designed to be controlled in real time by a single soldier.

...

Israel has sold defence equipment to at least 130 countries and is now the eighth biggest arms exporter in the world.

Israeli companies have marketed technology and weapons used on the Palestinian populations of the occupied West Bank and Gaza as "battlefield tested", a tactic that can be seen in Rafael's video.

Well, in Germany we got hammered it in that any likening of anything that was not part of the Holocaust to parts of the Holocaust is inherently antisemitic and a new form of nazism. The Holocaust is supposed to be unique and special forever, as no one is as good at exterminating people like we Germans are and Jews are the eternal victims, hence Israel can't do any wrong. Conveniently ignoring how other victims of the Holocaust such as Sinti and Roma are still facing rampant systemic discrimination in Germany and also that understanding of Jewish victims being limited to Israelis or people loyal to Israel, whereas Jews who criticize Israel face various forms of repression in Germany.

Now obviously that isn't the way it is taught directly, but it does involve a sick guilt pride on the one hand and the immediate shut down of any criticism of anything that actually does have parallels to aspects of the Nazi regime and the Holocaust. Or well, that is as long as the criticism is geared towards our allies such as the US and Israel.

Unfortunately the whole debate has been deeply intoxicated and instrumentalized in the "Staatsräson" logic of unconditional support for any and every atrocity, as long as it serves the current Israeli state and its government.

From the best attempt of a neutral perspective: In Auschwitz the Nazis murdered about 1.5 Million people. At its peak there were about 150,000 - 200,000 people concentrated there. From medicinal experiments on humans to random acts of brutal violence there has been all sorts of further gruesome atrocities piled on top of the systematic extermination. So in terms of scale the comparison really cannot come even remotely close.

I do agree with you that these atrocities escalate and escalate quickly, when left unchallenged. The idea that Germany, Israel, the US or anyone other state entity truly learned a lesson of humanity from the horrors of the Holocaust and there would be a certain prevention unfortunately also is wrong. I remember how in school everybody was like "i could have never done this" or "i would have fought against this, how could the people?!" and now we see the same writings on the wall here in Germany again and most people do fuck all, if they don't already openly embrace it

The EU is not trying to “buy up Ukraine at a discount”, they are pushing for Ukrainian EU membership, which would be mutually beneficial. On the one hand, the EU would gain massive strategic food production and a large experienced military, and further buffer area towards Russia.

EU tried to get its own minerals deal with Ukraine in the wake of Trump demands.

https://www.politico.eu/article/critical-minerals-rare-earths-deal-eu-not-donald-trump/

Also Ukraine joining the EU would not make a "buffer", unless you would argue in terms of first and second class EU countries, with Ukraine being designated to become a second class one. Ukraine currently is the "buffer" as it is aligned with the EU, but not part of it, so the EU does not bear the same responsibilities towards Ukraine as to other EU members.

The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung is associated with the Left party in Germany. It is named after the anti-imperialist and anti-nationalist theorist, philosopher, economist and revolutionary socialist Rosa Luxemburg, who was murdered in 1919 by Monarchists who later became influential Nazis under the Hitler regime.

Ian Williams wakes up one morning to find $1,338 has been stolen from his account via two Google Pay transactions. Two years later, he's taking on NAB at the Supreme Court, with no lawyers to help him.

Under the shower i thought about the life of Vernon Dursley.

The guy is just some normal British bloke. We don't know much about his background, but given his sister is breeding bull-terriers, he's probably from some lower middle class countryside family.

He falls in love with a women who is heavily traumatized because a freak genetic mutation or something gave her sister "special powers" and made her sister her parents favorite.

He doesn't get any of it, but he rolls with it, because he loves his wife. He works hard, gets in the corporate ladder and sucks it up so his wife can stay at home and raise their recently born son.

Then some freaks show up and drop his nephew on the doorstep. Turns out his sister in law and her husband have been engaged in some vigilante paramilitary group that was fighting in a secret war against a very potent terrorist. The terrorist murdered his sister in law and her husband. Somehow their little baby survived and apparently killed the terrorist. Or the head terrorist isn't really killed because of how this freak genetic stuff works, but Vernon doesn't get any of it.

The freaks who left the child only left a letter with it, saying the child will be safe at their house, but is otherwise in mortal danger as the terrorists are still out there and also the head terrorist some day somehow might return.

Despite this bringing danger to his family, Vernon takes in the child. He figures that the best thing to protect his family and the child is for the child not to be engaged in all of this freak stuff, so he tries to get it out of that cursed child. Again he doesn't really understand any of it, but weird stuff keeps happening around that child.

Because of that he develops anger issues and kind of locks the child in, which of course isn't okay, but he doesn't know what else to do. There is no government resources to help him. He doesn't know how to reach the people who dropped the child off, however they seem to keep tabs on him and his family. Again from all he understands they are involved in some paramilitary actions.

Despite all of this he remains loyal to his wife who he understands must suffer a lot from this, but they cannot seek counseling or other help as any psychiatrist would just lock them up for psychosis.

Then the boy starts going to the school for the freak kids like his parents. He starts getting involved in fights with that terrorist, who apparently is still alive, people show up at their house through the chimney, blowing half of it away, the godfather of his nephew is a wanted murderer he knew as an armed prison escapee from the news, his own son almost gets killed in an assassination attempt on his nephew involving some sort of invisible monsters and finally the leader of that paramilitary group shows up and demands them to leave their house for a while into the unknown.

The Dursley's are left alone to deal with all of these things that are way beyond their comprehension or ability. They try to do the right thing, but often fail the task. Instead of getting understanding they are considered the evil ones by everyone who seemingly understands whats going on.

I know this is not a typical News-Site. The article is an English translation of an article the author Matthias Monroy published in a German Newspaper. It is from the same author and of the same content of the following article in German.
