Everything “for the kids” has been bad.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 119 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Because it’s never about the kids.

Turns out it was all a ruse to implement mass surveillance, authoritarianism, and fascism.

Epstein didn't kill himself... and one of his closest "friends" was the US president.

The next time they try it's gonna be against terrorism. For sure that time it'll pass.

Next time it'll be Terrorist Children

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 3 points 3 weeks ago

They're already using that one for Israel's warcrimes

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

excepting wu tang clan, of course

Well that's because Wu-Tang isn't "for the kids" they're "for the children."

Under the current regime it will be used to suppress discussion of all things LGBTQ+, particularly transgender identity and healthcare, women's rights and healthcare including abortion, Black history, indigenous history, Israel's genocide of Palestinians, immigration, police abuses, and so on.

This is absolutely the worst time for such a bill, so of course it has a better chance of succeeding than ever before.

I feel before the late 60s would also be a time this bill would pass pretty easily. Ppl really need to recognize this brand of fascism is nothing new in west. Historically it's pretty damn normal

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There is never an appropriate time for a bill that limits, curbs, controls, restricts, or obstructs freedom of expression. Remember, if an action or expression does not infringe upon someone else's rights, then any limitation on it - particularly by the state - is a grossly unethical violation of their natural human rights.

[–] pineapplepizza@lemm.ee 3 points 3 weeks ago

But your freedom of expression restricts my freedom of oppression.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 46 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They are trying to push through KOSA again? They didn't even change the name.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 23 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Why bother spending time and effort changing the name when there are women and minorities to oppress??? Think it through man!

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 11 points 3 weeks ago

Just look at them, sitting there, not getting punched by cops. Is that the world you want to live in, son?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 37 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Simply abandon the US and move the forum to civilization.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 20 points 3 weeks ago

Yep, being under US jurisdiction is like being under any other autocracy's jurisdiction now.

[–] vivendi@programming.dev 28 points 3 weeks ago

I propose no kids allowed. Internet access only after 21years of age?

They can have a government subnet... WWW.KIDSONLY.KIDSONLY

And drop an anvil on anyone doing bad things there.

The internet is like a casino. There are no kids because the content is not for kids. So we should make that official. Only consenting adults allowed.

Over on the kid's side there should be also no commercial activity. Everything should be free. I don't want my kid asking me to buy anything. That the main reason my kids don't get internet.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

Kids should go to the Internet with the penguins and let the grown ups do shady stuff in peace.
