I altered the title to remove the clickbait and copy in context from the start of the article. The original title was:

This viral chocolate is part of a salmonella risk recall as 9 hospitalized

The list of affected products:

In recent days, recalls have been posted for Al Mokhtar Food Centre brand of pistachios, Habibi brand of pistachio kernels in addition to the Dubai brand of chocolate bar containing pistachio and khafeh.

This is absolutely excellent journalism 👏. The kind of journalism that many Canadian newsroom struggle to do because they lack resources. Please support it if you can.

Summary

  1. North American doctors prescribe a huge amount of opioid painkiller pills.

  2. Canada is a country deeply influenced by the United States. Health Canada followed the US FDA when most European countries were extremely cautious. Canadian Medical Schools allowed US drug companies to spread questionable content.

  3. The U.S. is one of the only countries in the world that allow prescription drugs to be advertised on TV. The Sackler family spent $200-million annually marketing Oxycontin opioids. Many Canadians regularly watch american TV channels and painkiller ads are hard to miss.

  4. The crisis spilled from inside doctor’s offices to city streets as drug dealers capitalized on a new wave of clients. Then came the second trigger: the shift from heroin to fentanyl in the mid-2010s.

  5. Europe has a warning system that tracks the emergence of new psychoactive substances (NPS). They are identified through laboratory testing of seizures by law enforcement. Member states are alerted as soon as possible, allowing them to respond to the threat.

  6. It's easier to get rehab treatment in Europe. Most rehab facilities in Canada are privately owned.

Today’s game is The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Right now I only have access to my Steam Deck due to current events, and I wanted to kill some time and have kind of been craving this since Prey isn’t on the menu and I recently beat OoT. I’ve been putting it off because this game’s openings is one of its weaknesses for me. It’s just too long compared to OoT’s, which is just “Go in the tree, do the dungeon, kill a big ass spider. Get the fuck out of here”. Meanwhile Wind Waker’s opening feels like it drags on so long. Once you get out though? It’s so fucking good. Personally it’s no OoT for me. But it’s certainly comes really close.

I’ve been playing on the HD Version, and I don’t know if this is a Remaster issue, or just a CEMU issue, but the sky is so god damn bright. It looks like fucking Todd Howard designed it himself and cranked the bloom to max. I’m getting flash backs to the Ark Survival trailer. Despite being flashbanged though the sky is still utterly gorgeous.

I didn’t get very far, because like I mentioned, long ass opening. But I did get just before the forsaken fortress. I remember dreading that section because I just remember it taking away the sword.

Speaking of the sword, I wanted to talk about the combat real quick, which I think is an amazing evolution of Ocarina of Time’s. You get all these move combinations so it’s not just a button mash with an occasional jump attack. And the parry is a lovely addition. Depending on how tomorrow goes I may pick this back up tomorrow because I’d love to get out of the tutorial (and maybe one day move onto twilight princess)

I have always gotten sore exactly two days after a workout. I just joined back to my gym, and had an intense workout on Monday. Today I would’ve made a penguin look like a prima ballerina with how stiff and sore I was/am. Thank deity for hot showers. I’m not looking forward to Friday. 😅

Athens Mayor Haris Doukas responded to Israeli Ambassador Noam Katz’s criticism of the city’s handling of antisemitic graffiti. In a post on X, Doukas denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide and rejected Katz’s accusations, emphasizing Athens’ commitment to combating violence and racism.

“We reject lessons in democracy from those responsible for civilian deaths,” Doukas stated. “Athens, the capital of a democratic nation, respects its visitors and upholds free expression. Our municipal authority actively opposes violence and racism.”

Doukas further criticized the ambassador’s focus on graffiti amid the Gaza conflict. “It’s shocking that the ambassador fixates on graffiti, which is being removed, while an unprecedented genocide unfolds in Gaza,” he said. He also noted a 90% surge in Israeli citizens receiving Greek Golden Visas over the past year.

Some of the Texas Democrats who left the state in protest of a redistricting bill were temporarily evacuated Wednesday from their Chicago-area hotel after a bomb threat, according to police and lawmakers.

The House Democratic caucus confirmed that a threat had been made, as did Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. Pritzker said in a statement that "threats of violence will be investigated and those responsible will be held accountable" and that he had instructed Illinois state police to investigate.

Pritzker told reporters later Wednesday that "a right-wing podcaster who took a video of where they're staying, posted it, put a map up to point to exactly what hotel they're at."

U.S. tariffs on Brazilian goods jumped to 50% on Wednesday, Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva told Reuters in an interview that he saw no room for direct talks now with U.S. President Donald Trump that would likely be a "humiliation."

Brazil is not about to announce reciprocal tariffs, he said. Nor will his government give up on cabinet-level talks. But Lula himself is in no rush to ring the White House.

"The day my intuition says Trump is ready to talk, I won't hesitate to call him," Lula said in an interview from his presidential residence in Brasilia. "But today my intuition says he doesn't want to talk. And I won't humiliate myself."
