Except 4 think its because they aren't sending trans people to the camps yet and the other 4 thinks its because of all the new camps they keep building

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 30 points 1 day ago

And the rest can't be bothered and hope all this goes away soon.

The structure of the republic and the Constitution required political agents acting in good faith for the good of the citizens.

That has absolutely collapsed. That is no longer functioning at all.

Politically the US is in a state of actual warfare between its citizens v citizens spree shootings/school shootings/political assassinations/media assassinations and citizen v military being rolled out to multiple cities. The police are being transmogrified into ICE.

Whatever version of the United States of America that sits before us is like watching a once functioning alcoholic cease to be functional.

We are in the "Leaving Las Vegas" section of the American Experiment.

The structure of the republic and the Constitution required political agents acting in good faith for the good of the citizens.

There is a 0% chance that that keeps happening. The structure of the republic required the ordinary people of the United States to be vigorous about making sure that their political agents were acting for the good of the citizens, and putting them in danger (electoral or otherwise) if they were not.

It worked, and we got complacent because things were working, and so we slid away from that and into this idea that they're supposed to just because they're supposed to. And look where it got us.

Good times create apathetic people 🤔

there are too many rich people in ratio to the number of congressional representations that led to decreased taxation and too many damn rich people.

the number of representatives needs to be higher than 435 for a representative to be able to be held to accountable to their constituents. In the 1940 it was ~80,000 residents to a rep. Now it is like 400,000. A representative just can't represent that many people.

we need more reps in congress to be able to attack and tax these overly bloated corporate greed centers from more vectors.

Alternative headline: 20% of population colossally ignorant, willfully obtuse, or both.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 8 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (2 children)

And of the remaining 80, 40% blame Democrats.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 10 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

trump never would have had a second term if Biden wasn't forced down our throats in 2020.

And trump never would have had a first term if Hillary's primary campaign in 2016 didn't have full control over the DNC.

We need to at least admit the reasons why this happened, or it's just going to keep fucking happening

Luckily the DNC voting members learned their lesson and pivoted away from neoliberalism for the current chair

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 2 points 22 hours ago

Your blaming the DNC though, the right is just blaming all Democrats as the cause of these issues.

[–] F_State@midwest.social 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I mean, more than half. Almost everyone on the Left thinks Democrats share blame with Republicans even if Republicans are MORE to blame.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago

And they're right.

[–] calliope@retrolemmy.com 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

5 of those 8 people voted for this exact crisis.

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago

Crisis is a quaint term for "Fascist dictatorship".

[–] itztalal@lemmings.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Quick, let's nominate another establishment Democrat so everyone supporting Trump can be correct in saying Democrats don't care about the working class!

[–] Joeffect@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (2 children)

I mean is he wrong? The only care anyone in DC has is for the votes... thats as far as it goes

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 19 hours ago

Campaign cash 💵💵💵🤑

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

The only care anyone in DC has is for the votes…

They prefer donations to votes.

[–] Yawweee877h444@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Gee, ya think?

Why are the Republicans blocking release of the Epstein files?

Does it show that our entire system is a sham built on a foundation of organized crime and fraud? Is it deep in all of our highest 3-letter agencies?

Division is a terrible thing. United we stand, divided we fall.

We are divided under Trump... So, we shall fall. The evangelical cultists know it. It's why they think the rapture is upon us.

The people are more powerful than they know, though.

"why do we fall, Bruce?" "So that we can learn to pick ourselves up."

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

A plurality of voters (47 percent) think supporting Israel is in the national interest of the United States…

WHY? Since Netanyahu went on his rampage, I just don’t think it’s worth the trouble anymore. Protecting a perceived underdog is one thing. Protecting a bully is something else entirely. Netanyahu has become a bully.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 5 points 23 hours ago

Netanyahu has become a bully.

Just like the US.

[–] Jolly_Platypus@lemmy.world 7 points 23 hours ago

FA and now we're FO

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

Political, agricultural, labor, economic, climate. What isn't in crisis right now?

[–] blargle@sh.itjust.works 6 points 22 hours ago

The 20% who think it's not must be the less-inteligent half of the 40% of Americans who believe humans coexisted with dinosaurs.

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 6 points 1 day ago

I presume the remaining 20% are either fascists or so high on fentanyl that they're unaware of what decade it currently is.

4 in 10 will probably still sit it out because the options are not ideal, or something else, happening somewhere else is rankling their virtues. Like here's a gun, but you don't want to stop the rapist mounting your kid because the gun isn't the color you want.
