For example, I don't like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.

But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It's such a cozy movie.

Pretty tired of seeing Chris Pratt's face everywhere. His early career was great, but I find him obnoxious these days

[–] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 37 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Perfect for parks and rec and guardians 1. Everything since then has just been typical Hollywood overuse. "People like him let's put him in everything!"

That man is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Used to be different but Jack Black needs to go away. Every time I see him in something its the same character over and over, pudgy loser that plays air guitar and scats at every opportunity cause he's all quirky like that.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 31 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Him and Pratt need to go away for a while

[–] afk_strats@lemmy.world 11 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I totally agree.

Also I just saw your user name and I started imagining a movie pitch in my head and laughed. Thank you for making my day

He’s like Adam Sandler in some of his roles, too. Pudgy loser man… married to or dating a knock out super model.

I don't care for "Home Alone 2" star Donald Trump

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 20 points 6 hours ago

A bit player at best.

In his latest role he's basically Walmart Hitler

I can't stand Adam Sandler movies. Exceptions: The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates.

Jared Leto. All his best roles are the ones that could have been better, if they were played by someone else.

[–] GrayBackgroundMusic@lemmy.zip 10 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I hate him, too, but he was good in Blade Runner 2049. I mean, the role should have come naturally since he was playing a narcissistic sociopath.

Tom Cruise. No exceptions. Even when I don't realize it's him in a role (which was basically limited to his role in Tropic Thunder), his performances still irritate me.

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

I would say his role in Magnolia is the exception.

Jamie Foxx and his associates were at an adjacent table at at restaurant in LA years ago. He was a total cunt to wait staff. Pure asshole to his core. Restaurant comped our meal because he ruined the evening for everyone.

Hollywood is starting to make me dislike Pedro Pascal only because he's in EVERY DAMN THING.

I actually like the guy, but overexposure is a thing. And he could stand to just chill for a little while.

[–] mongooseofrevenge@lemmy.world 24 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

The first one that comes to mind is Jared Leto. Can't stand him in any role but I will tolerate him in Requiem for a Dream. And even then I've only seen that movie once which is more than enough.

Mark Wahlberg is a racist that once tried to beat a Vietnamese person to death while shouting "I hate the Vietnamese" and other racist shit in the past.

[–] blargbluuk@sh.itjust.works 9 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Apparently he ad-libbed a lot of the weird rapey dialog he has in Flight Risk (2025), not that anyone saw it because it sucks.

Mine is also Will Ferrel.

Steven Seagal, he’s complete garbage on every level. He can’t act, he can’t run, he’s a sex trafficker and rapist, and his whole career was started with a bet by producers to make the most incapable and unlikable person famous.

Also, aikido, he can’t even do a stupid useless fake “martial art” invented to sell to suburbanite children properly.

Jared Leto (I don't know why, I just really don't like him), but there are no roles of his that I like. In fact, he has ruined a few movies for me. I was actually really excited about Tron: Ares until the casting was revealed.

Will Farrell and people who have the same "try hard" comedy style as Will Farrell; Steve Carrell, Ben Stiller, etc.

This will be an unpopular opinion but I cannot stand Nic Cage. He's unwatchable to me. His mannerisms, his delivery, everything about him tweaks me the wrong way.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I don't know sometimes his acting is so bad it rounds the bend to being completely hilarious, such as in Face/Off.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 11 points 7 hours ago

Or Con Air.

The high point of his career as far as I'm concerned is "why couldn't you put the bunny back in the box."

Joaquin Phoenix, no exceptions. And it's totally not fair. He's a gifted actor, and I can't stand him for some reason.

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 17 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

This is very similar to whatever beef I have with Sean Penn.

Chris Pratt, I never got why he’s famous. I was never a fan anything he did he just seemed like a one trick pony. (Be the dumb/funny chubby guy) then he did Guardians of the Galaxy and yes I did enjoy it but that’s about it. And with him being casted in almost everything lately I’m done with him.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 9 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Same. Aside from parks and rec and guardian films, pretty much avoid his trash. He's also a super judgemental religious nut.

I couldn't stand Jason Statham. Then many years ago I watched Spy with Melissa McCarthy and he was the perfect piss take of his characters from so many other movies. Example scene that shows his comedic stupidity. Ever since I haven't minded the guy.

Shia LeBeouf was tolerable (some might even say good) in Fury, but other than that, yech.

[–] npdean@lemmy.today 14 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

Amber Heard. I used to find her attractive and her acting is decent. Then, the whole court case fiasco happened and I just can’t tolerate her anymore. I haven't watched Aquaman because of her.

There are no exceptions.

I don't think I like any of the comedies I've watched from Adam Sandler, but his dramatic stuff is fantastic.

Chris Pratt's only good films were the Guardians of the Galaxy fims and the Lego Movie and his face wasn't even in one of those.

All the supposed comics - Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Steve Martin, etc. Even a lot of Jim Carrey's stuff - the humor is sophomoric at best.

Tawny Kitaen and Alex Kingston. I can't stand them, they're nails on a blackboard. It's why I gave up on NuWho. Gal Gadot, but that's mostly because her acting is wooden and characters uninteresting.

Haha, will Ferrell as well!

Except Lego movie. (Haven't seen stranger than fiction but I'm led to believe that would be the second exception to my "I can't stand will Ferrell" rule, and a rule is only allowed 1 exception)

[–] Perspectivist@feddit.uk 10 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Never liked Jack Black and I can't point to why

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

I've found Jack Black works best when he appears in a supporting role. When he's the main character he takes the entire film and makes it "Jack Black the Film".

Put him in something like Tropic Thunder? He fits great. Have him lead School of Rock? It's too much.

Tom Hanks.
