!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Let's just restrict them from everyone

“Now I need a fake ID to rent ultra-porn!”

[–] jeena@piefed.jeena.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So I have only 4 years of AI pictures for me? I'm so looking forward to be 50 now!

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works -4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Whoops I meant anyone who is 50+ now like born in or before 1975.

[–] heavydust@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why 50? Are they scared?

Why everything in this post actually.

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 week ago (3 children)

To protect from scams.

Also I think children should be raised on media with actual depth and not slop made for easy money

[–] heavydust@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's stupid. I'm almost 50 and know more about scams than anyone else around me. Do you include restricting bank accounts too for "old people" who are 50?

One thing that could work is to ban all generative AI (text and images). You get to keep all the pattern recognition used in healthcare (like to find cancer) and you throw away everything else which is useless.

But I don't see why I have to suffer because some people are stupid.

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works -3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

50 was a random number but the old population who believe ai generated things are real should just be blocked from seeing ai images.

[–] heavydust@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

In the same topic: anyone that believes Instagram stories are real should be banned from the internet?

I wonder where you draw the line.

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works -4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm just saying posts with ai images should not be displayed if the account is for a 50+ year old.

Where do you stop and why 50+?

Why not "let’s ban Harry Potter from young people because they think it’s real."

You don’t believe in personal responsibility? Even dictatorships have fairy tales.

As for fake news, they are already illegal but young people consume them as much as old people.

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works -3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Growing children will learn how to tell if an image is ai generated if they didn't grow up normalizing it. A significant amount of old Facebook users don't even care to learn and would donate to some kids with scarred feet and prosthetic legs for their birthday.

Growing children will learn how to tell if an image is ai generated

lol. People thought the same crap with computers and smartphones. We would be surrounded by computer geniuses because they had technology. The result is that they don’t even know what a directory is.

And with AI thinking for them, they’ll be even dumber.

[–] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Slop definitely existed before AI, see Elsagate

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Not just the stupid slop but the "quality" images as well. I think kids shouldn't be looking at ai pictures at all

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Why? My son and I used AI to create some cool avatars for our steam accounts. Everything in moderation and responsibly. Hell, drinking too much water can kill you, how about we just educate people instead, and let them enjoy their own life. Much larger issues to worry about.

You're an outlier for actually spending time with your son. I mean for the children who are given an iPad and told to go away. They shouldn't be spending their formative years thinking ai images are real or human made art.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago (3 children)

How do you propose to restrict access?

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just don't display the images if the account owner is younger than 18 or born before 1975

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Wouldn't that require identification of account owners ?

Declare "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"
