Ah yes, I remember that part of the Bible where Jesus healed the sick, but only if they weren't dirty freeloaders.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 55 points 3 weeks ago

And Jesus walked into the temple and handed each money lender a Benjamin and a teener and said "Fuck the poor!"Amen.

TIL Peter David was flat broke, disabled as fuck, but was still kicked off Medicaid.

It looks like he was lucky enough to still be getting care. The problem is that his medical bills were so high that his family was at risk of becoming homeless.

His wife has been struggling to get a job that pays a living wage, and his daughter has been struggling to get an entry level role. Sadly, this is a very American story, and if he wasn’t lucky enough to have so many fans, things would be even darker for his family.

Wiliam Messner Loebs is in the same boat, elderly, poor health, one arm, living with his ill wife in their car, delivering sandwiches for cash. :(

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 3 weeks ago

Thankfully no longer the case according to his Patreon account:

Every time I see that man's shit eating grin I get so mad. Especially because I know he loves every second of destroying other peoples lives.

Its a moral imperative that we provide healthcare to each other. Mike Dick over here wouldnt know shit about civility.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 35 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Then he should start with his own government all-paid healthcare.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

That's a great point. What are his benefits in detail? Meaning, how much is:

  • his salary
  • his stipends, if any
  • his medical benefits including any payments, minimums, yearly allowances, etc.
  • bonus for being chairmain?
  • gifts or benefits from his campaign or donors
[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 16 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I don't have answers to those. But i know they all get free fully covered healthcare. That's enough to piss me off.

[–] trash@lemm.ee 19 points 3 weeks ago

The ol' "fuck you, I got mine" party.

[–] TrippyHippyDan@lemmy.world 29 points 3 weeks ago

Well, you see, he's not an unborn child, so it's fine. 🫠

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Christianity is nothing more than a cudgel for these people.

I would find it ‘moral’ to throw Mike off something, as well.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 23 points 3 weeks ago

If one's morality is focused solely on making the rich richer...

[–] Wazowski@lemmy.world 22 points 3 weeks ago

It is moral to destroy the cancer that festers among us.

[–] hedhoncho@lemm.ee 20 points 2 weeks ago

That man never ceases to have a punchable face.

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 20 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm a Republican on Medicaid who thinks This is the WRONG DECISION but I would RATHER LITERALLY DIE OF PREVENTABLE CAUSES then to Vote for someone who ISNT a REPUBLICAN!

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 8 points 3 weeks ago

Sounds accurate.

[–] OrteilGenou@lemmy.world 19 points 3 weeks ago

Sure Mike, it's fine with you, your insurance covers it whenever you get an eye full of santorum

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is it moral to deny Medicaid to people who earned $5 too much? Because that's what we've been doing forever. The benefit cliff intencentivises people to stay in poverty.

His religiosity and ethics remind me of my uncle.

That is not a compliment.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

Mike also believes it’s moral to watch porn with his son. So this is unsurprising.

[–] heyWhatsay@slrpnk.net 16 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

It's moral to throw him off a moving train.

I’ve been writing a tune called “ Mike Johnson gives the world’s worst blowjobs, and he makes his son watch”. It may or may not be about the same my.

[–] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Make a deepfake of his son singing it and post it on Facebook.

Holy shit, Peter David wrote some of my favorite Star Trek novelizations. In 1997, I moved to a new area just before my junior year of high school. My new school was massive and I was an introvert who wasn't great at making friends. But somehow I ended up hanging out with a few fellow Star Trek fans, who introduced me to his new series, Star Trek: New Frontier (thank you Regina!). It got me through the rest of high school!

I'm sorry to hear what happened to him. :(

[–] Zombiepirate@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

That series looks interesting, I may have to give it a shot. Thanks for the rec.

[–] Uranus_Hz@lemm.ee 13 points 2 weeks ago

It’s moral to kill Nazis.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Very Christian of you Mike

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 13 points 3 weeks ago

As long as it’s not him or his family…

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 12 points 3 weeks ago

Meanwhile I have to declare bankruptcy because I can't afford groceries.

[–] ABetterTomorrow@lemm.ee 12 points 3 weeks ago

It’s moral to kick him in the teeth

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 3 weeks ago

Most punchable face.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Cut off his medical, then.

[–] Neuromorph@lemm.ee 8 points 2 weeks ago

congress first

[–] TheDeadlySquid@lemm.ee 7 points 2 weeks ago

I say it’s moral to kick this guy in the balls as hard as you can.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

The evil Keebler elf.

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago

Well, I insist it's "moral" to throw Mike Johnson off a bridge.

I personally won't be doing it, but there's nothing immoral about it in my book.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Sure if you're a god damn Nazi and/or a Christian.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

The creepy elf on a shelf has a very weird idea of what is moral.

Checks notes...oh, he's one of those performative jackass xtians. Completely expected, I guess.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 6 points 2 weeks ago

I think it’s moral to throw Mike off the top of the tallest building we can find.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Nevermind, I'm full of shit- Mike Johnson isn't Mormon, he's a southern Baptist- so, yeah, this tracks.

~~I always believed that Mormons had some principles- ones I didn’t agree with, sure- but at least they had their own set of standards. People like Harry Reid, or Mitt Romney, even. I never expected them to take the same path as the evangelicals, who, as far as I could ever tell, never stood for anything longer than five minutes. Say what you want about the old-school LDS- but they used to live by their code, even if that code made your skin crawl. At least you knew where they stood.~~
