Because unsourced screenshots are not journalism:

I can't find this specific article, but the story is true. With video.

Really important that she both acknowledges her privilege, and also the oft neglected responsibility to make actions with that privilege to advance the goals of those who do not have access to that privilege - what a role model.

In case anyone's unclear on what you're referring to:

“I do have privilege. I was risking less than other people who are more marginalized than I am, and I needed to use that privilege,” Kotler said.

Off topic, but has anyone else noticed that fascist cops all over the US are wearing Hugo Boss black? Didn't hit me until my neighbor called the pigs on me for calling him and his wife fascists. 4 pigs roll up, solid black everything. The only color was the red LED on their camera. The cops in the video are absolutely shiny compared to my ACABs.

And everyone just figures this is normal?! I look back at municipal cops from my youth and while they were even worse than today's cops, at least they didn't dress to intimidate. They basically looked like armed park rangers.

They’ve been itching to roll out the SEAL cosplay for a while now. In Portland they debuted it at the George Floyd protests.

The 1033 program is funneling our defense budget to police who, let's recap a couple headlines from the week,

  • Rendition legal people to foreign terrorist prisons without due process
  • Ignore the orders of federal judges
  • Drag away peaceful people who speak out

Does that about sum up the current events?

All cops are not just bastards, they're evil. Police departments are fascist juntas.

Your neighbor CALLED THE COPS because you called him a name? Fucking snowflake of the year award for that guy! So much for freedom of speech, eh?

It's almost like their neighbor is a fascist or something

[–] iridebikes@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

So that's it? You called them fascists and they called the cops? Why a confrontation in the first place? Any details on what actions these thugs tried to take, if any?

We had greater degrees of free speech but it largely meant you can organize Naxi parties

The tolerance paradox in action.

[–] Sonicdemon86@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Well think of it not as a paradox but as a social contract that they have broken several times.

This was in Decatur? Decatur is liberal as fuck (well, at least the city of Decatur is).

[–] entwine413@lemm.ee 27 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I guarantee the cops aren't.

I haven't run into direct issues with em yet, but agreed. The path near me has several free Palestine markings, plus stuff against cop city.

Ironically this instance bans people who suggest we do more than wave signs.

Anti genocide Gaza protesters also got thrown out of Bernie's rally and the Hands Off protests.
