In another week, it'll be a gate embedded in the snow with a pile of rust and four tires surrounding it.

Edit: 5 tires

[–] kersploosh@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 days ago

Got a little rust on there. Should have gotten the Trucoat.

That right there belongs to scrapper bob.

scrapper bob always has a rusted, beat up, 20 year old pickup, often pulling a dump trailer of the same vintage.

scrapper bob always has gates, boards, and other flat objects in his truck and trailer to make cargo walls, so scrap can be piled sky high with no proper tie downs.

scrapper bob is often seen creeping through neighborhoods looking for curbside toilets and sinks to shatter to take just the metal.

Scrapper bob does not give a fuck.

Still looks better than a Cybertruck

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

You know what looks worse than a Cybertruck? A Cybertruck pulling a Uhaul trailer. I saw that and laughed and laughed.

The only upstate New York creativity I ever appreciated was the garbage plate from Nick Tahou‘s in Rochester

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ooh I love a garbage plate.

Haven’t had one since the fall of 1998, but I have spent the last couple of decades trying to re-create it— including getting very drunk before I eat it. Which, I think, is a critical component.

I simply fucking can’t. I’ve gotten very close a few times, but just nothing compares.

Age the bread in black contractor bags. Have someone yell at you if you take to long ordering. If you wanna recreate the downtown Rochester one bring a shotgun and let off a few rounds as well.

Floor five ;)

We were the only dorm, aside from Computer Science House, that had broadband access in our rooms. It was fucking amazing!

I had one at a food truck in Buffalo about six years ago. It was wonderful.

What I want to recreate is the Press Box salad from Niagara Falls NY.

Having grown up where I've had to have a yearly MoT test for most of my life, as well as a twice yearly ITV test because my van is 25.

What the fuck?

Do youse not have any sort of vehicle safety checks over the pond?

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

Differs by state. Maine has no emissions req, just a safety and muffler check. Pretty much a no big holes rule, unless you know a guy, and we all know a guy. But it's yearly. When I grew up in CT it was every 2 years but they put a snorkel on your shit and test for emissions.

Photos like these show the true dissolve - oh excuse me, resolve of new englanders

[–] fulcrummed@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

It’s a tailgate alright.

I’m not sure which part is actually providing the structural integrity here - the fence gate, the slackened ratchet straps, the rust, or the snow.

Well, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard the term "car fence"

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I'm not sure; someone posted it on a Facebook group.

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 2 points 4 days ago

Road salt has no mercy.

Head on over to the Hancock/Walton area and that there's a daily driver.
