I'm a trans 18 yr old and was unable to vote in this last election as I was a month too young. I've really wanted to get out and protest, I've just not had an opportunity to until today/tomorrow. I'm going to try to make it to my state capital tomorrow, but if I can't I'll be attending the local protests in my city :)

If I were your civics teacher grading you on an assignment, I'd ding your score for the year and the German flag. You could then successfully argue to me the year you chose was closer to mass uses of concentration camps, because that is more in line with your second sign. That strengthens my flag argument, but gets you half the points back that I'd have taken away.

Now, for the reality. This isn't an assignment; welcome to the both more and less forgiving real world. I see the first sign and know exactly what you're trying to say, and that's the real goal. It doesn't matter whether or not the year is mathematically perfectly analogous. Many Americans probably won't even recognize the modern German flag, so I would possibly recommend a Nazi flag (wow, words I never thought I'd say) in place of it for next time, but the fact that you're present is the most important part. I understand what your message is, so good job.

Being trans, I think for today's events, you'll be fine, but be aware and keep yourself safe.

Yep. But maybe 1939 would have been more appropriate.

I don't want to be pedantic, but it seems 1933 is the year with the closest analogy to what you intend, since thats the year the Nazis took power.

1939 would be when WWII kicked off for Europe. I guess one could say the next World War is cooking off, but I don't think thats what OP intends to be commenting on.

~~1940~~ 1941 is when the US was dragged into WWII......I guess i would say that's the year that put the World in World War II....Uh, but yeah, gonna have to hard disagree that we're there yet.

  • the U. S. entered the war in very late 1941

Also, I agree with the early 30s estimation

Derp, my bad, yeah I'll fix that in my comment.

I mean yeah, I'm aware, but it's Trump second mandate. And he already tried a coup... My interpretation was that OP was referring the beginning of the 3rd World War. Maybe we're not there yet on a military level, but there's definitively an economic war ongoing and at the speed things are going, chances are he will try ton annex Groenland (think Poland) before the end of the year. We're only 3 months in...

I guess I could see that argument.

If I understand correctly, 1938/39 is when Japan started getting frisky with Manchuria / Northwest China, to which Chinese immigrants / Chinese heritage Americans on the US west coast demanded action by the US government, which then caused the US to stop selling steel and other industrial goods to Japan, effectively starting a trade war.

I don't think I agree with your conclusion, but I def see the logical basis and how it relates to current world events.

I don’t think I agree with your conclusion

I wish I'm wrong but this administration keeps adding fuel to the fire every damn day.
