Seems Johnson knows this. Both him and Trump will keep this shutdown going to stop the forced release of these files it seems. Don't know what kind of plan they're cooking up though.

It was obvious this was the case when they fought so hard to prevent the release. They continued with it even when it's clear that the actions they're taking to keep it hidden it's damaging for them.

My bet is that there's video evidence of Trump raping a minor, or maybe a recording of him admitting it. I don't know what else could be more damning than that.

At this rate they're gonna keep this up until Trump dies.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 97 points 1 day ago (8 children)

I don't know what else could be more damning than that.

Like their podcast "heroes", I'm just asking questions here, but:

What if Trump didn't just rape kids? He had beauty pageants where he admitted to walking in on naked teenagers to "inspect" them. He walked around "interviewing" contestants, asking them about their lives. He himself specifically chose a decent percentage of the finalists - and by claiming those spots for certain chosen people, significantly reduced the chances for other contestants. And there were not only the contestants, but a bunch of wannabe contestant-types on the fringes. And a lot of those contests were held overseas.

So, just asking questions here, but: what if Donald Trump wasn't just raping kids? What if he was actively involved in recruiting and trafficking them?

It's hard to speculate on things like that, but when he openly admitted to reporters that Epstein took girls from his spa, it means the investigation would have to be reviewing such

I think there’s evidence that they were more than just bffs.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 95 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I think there’s evidence that they were business partners in the trafficking operation. Trump owned children beauty pageants, he had girl servants at one of his resorts, reports of some of those girls winding up with Epstein… I bet there are financial transactions proving it.

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yep, this is the big story in it I think as well. Sen. Ron Wyden has been investigating the Epstein financial ties and has uncovered billions in suspect wire transfers that several big banks bent the rules on for him.

Trump wasn't just a customer. He was Epstein's partner and Mar-a-Lago was a hub for international sex trafficking, including child sex trafficking.

They're not the Epstein files. They're the Trump files.

This is my thought as well. He has to be in there to such an extent that if they removed all mention of him, what was left would fit on a fucking post it. Otherwise they would have tried to release it with a few pages "lost" and blamed Biden.

I don't know what else could be more damning than that.

Active participation in not just the rape but the trafficking operation, the big reveal being that he actually solicited these "services" to tons of so far unnamed people?

Remember this isn't just about Trump. He's protecting those padding his pockets and pulling his strings.

This is the Panama papers all over again. Another way of proving everyone in power is corrupt and we'll do fuck all about it.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think this is a little different because I believe in unreleased form this is more of a monkey on the Trump fandom's back. Had they just been released at the start, there would have been massive coverage for a week, but MAGA would believe that Trump's different by being open and transparent about it, and Democrats are just whining and people would forget about it much like the Papers. Whereas this way, it's clear the Republican swamp has something it REALLY doesn't want to reveal, to the point they'd be willing to starve the country and hold the entire government hostage over releasing them.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (17 children)

We already know Trump is a rapist who likes underage girls. That has been proven without a doubt on multiple occasions. What does hanging out with another guy who does so change, especially since that's another thing we've already known for years?

Remember, this case is about dozens of rich men raping young girls and the only person who's in jail is a women.

[–] Captainvaqina@sh.itjust.works 66 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Well, Epstein was in prison until trump had him murdered.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 40 points 21 hours ago (8 children)

I'm still confused, about how Epstein being suicided in jail during Trump presidency, and conservatives are blaming Hillary.

As far as conspiracies go, this one is exceptionally stupid

They just announced that they are thinking about cutting air traffic controllers in the run up to Thanksgiving.

I hope that when the dam breaks it washes away the entire GOP

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This would make my year if this happens. I keep hoping this happens, but every time… it doesn’t. They just keep moving the bar on what is acceptable for a president to do. By trumps standards, Epstein himself could have been president.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Two things.

First, I know a lot of people here hate Schumer and the DNS, but they timed this shutdown to perfection. Just before the elections and Thanksgiving. Credit where credit is due.

Second, yeah, I've been waiting for the GOP to go to war with itself since 2015. I remember telling an activist freind of mine that Trump was going for the nomination and she told me that she didn't want to ever have to think about Donald trump, ever.

I hope that when the dam breaks it washes away the entire GOP

If you look at the Labour Party in the UK, they walked in with comically oversized majorities last year. Then they proceeded to govern exactly like their Conservative predecessors - with no few MPs gleaned from the ranks of fleeing conservatives - such that Reform UK is now ready to pick up the Prime Ministership in the next election cycle.

The problem with the modern American conservative movement is that its not confined to the GOP. It is a consequence of the donor base. And the donors continue to be enthusiastically bipartisan.

[–] Tehbaz@lemmy.wtf 62 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Even if the files contain irrefutable proof that Trump trafficked and raped children with Epstein, Johnson and the GOP know that his base will either dismiss it as 'fake news', AI or otherwise convince themselves that Trump raped kids because the Democrats used their mind control ray to set him up.

I suspect the real reason they want to keep it under wraps is to protect their billionaire donors who will be named in the files.

"Ok, so, yeah... We know that Trump did all these horrible things to children, but we can't charge a sitting president because of a memo written by another corrupt Republican administration. Sorry our hands are tied! Oh we can't impeach him either because... because fuck you that's why. Sorry not sorry! Vote R in the midterms though! Communism! Be afraid!"

Who would've thought our sitting president being a pedophile and best friends with one of the most notorious human traffickers in history would be such a problem? /s

How many people have access to the files right now? Not a single one is doing the right thing. Complicit. If I happened across those files, they would have to murder me to stop them leaking. The level of apathy genuinely makes me wonder if it's wickedness or some sort of actual brain damage from some chemical or virus we haven't found yet.

Fuck

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 25 points 15 hours ago

Did you not notice the part where Epstein committed suicide, Giuffre was hit by a bus, survived, and then committed suicide, and Maxwell was paid a closed-door visit by Trump's personal fixer?

They have and will continue to kill to keep these secrets.

The files they don’t have that don’t exist that don’t incriminate anyone on a list that is not real that is a hoax is worse than they ever imagined.

RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES PEDONALD

I wouldn't doubt it if he diddled little boys too. Or at least laughed when his close friends did. Disgusting fucking cancer...

Trump biographer Michael Wolff told the Daily Beast that he had personally seen "about a dozen Polaroid snapshots" of Trump and Epstein, in which Trump was photographed with several topless young women on his lap. Wolff said Epstein pulled the photos out of a safe and spread them out "like a deck of cards" on his dining room table.

I bet that is the least compromising thing in those files.

I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful—I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything.

I mean, they're hosting a historical shutdown specifically to prevent their release. We already knew they were damning.

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 35 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

As the airports begin to buckle they're going to fold on the shutdown very soon.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 33 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

At the holidays no less. And today my city had a 2-mile long traffic jam leading to the food bank. This is definitely going sideways quickly.

[–] FahrenheitGhost@lemmy.world 26 points 7 hours ago

The amount of blatant harm that they are willing to do in order to keep those file from being released says everything. We have an entire country being crippled just because one person doesn't want to be exposed.

Why do you think we have the Epstein shutdown?

Donbald is happy to have millions of children and the elderly starve, flights cancelled during the holidays, etc., if it means he can avoid justice and focus on building his Epstein ballroom.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

Oh no! Worse for Trump, you say?

Like... so bad that Kash Patel might actually do something about it? So bad that any one of those 91 indictments from two years ago might result in a prosecution with penalties attached? So bad that literally anything bad might happen to America's Golden Child?

[–] comeonitsnotlike@feddit.nu 19 points 1 day ago (8 children)

I mean, being a pedophile is "A OK" in US, it seems. There's no revolt or actual actions being taken to show the rest of the world that, being a pedophile is BAD, and have CONSEQUENCES. Instead; they get voted in as president. I'm in a different country, but I want nothing to do with US, be it at shopping level or otherwise. I don't care for pedophiles or those who enable them. PERIOD.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (3 children)

It's not that being a pedo is OK, it's that being a Republican is the magic "Get Out Of Jail Free" card. Republican pedos are protected at all costs, Republican racists are just "kids being kids", Republican insurrectionists are "Political Prisoners".
