Takes a solid 5 minutes to get the grime off. I have psoriasis so i gotta be attentive. Then another 5-10 minutes of carefully emptying my brain of any thoughts (rotate every 180 seconds) and then the last 10 to just enjoy every cell accepting warmth.

Getting the temperature to just below the point where it's painful, and then cooking the 12 hour shift off of me

Trying to work up the nerve to turn the hot water off and step out into the cold air

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 1 points 49 minutes ago

If I'm feeling energetic and I really hurry and I don't need to wash my hair I can do 20.

Usually takes me 30+. And that's just the shower part.

I don't understand how a significantly faster shower is possible.

this is written by a masc man. if I'm not washing my hair and just scrubbing, yeah I can get it done in 10-15 minutes. If I need to wash my hair though? easily 30 minutes. If I need to shave my legs/body? I'm probably drawing a bath and I'll see you in an hour at least.

I'm just going to be straight up honest: I get too stoned sometimes and day dream about random things. It's not productive things either, usually something like why don't banana pineapples exist.

I hate getting into the shower, but once I get in, I'm comfortable, so it's hard to get back out. I still do it in less than 10, but I can see how people can get stuck in there. It's very relaxing.

Like others have said, if there's no need to rush, there's no need to rush. And I've got long curly hair that needs to be washed, conditioned, detangled.

My hair is longer than my shoulders. I like my scalp to get scrubbed, it's sooo much easier to do that when my hair is only a few inches long. If I just go ham on it I'll damage it and break it so it takes as much time to wash my head than it does the rest of my obese body

I literally scrub from head to toes.

[–] winkledinkle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 7 hours ago

I'm just taking a breather, goddamn.

Relax into a brief, stressless, fugue state.

I live in a drought-stricken area, and so I take short showers. If I lived where it wasn't an issue, I'd be in the 30+ minutes camp.

About 4 hours for me

[–] orgrinrt@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Personally it gives me peace from the constant everything. The drops pull my attention and it’s all over, so I can relax and just feel it all, not all all. Not sure if that makes sense. It just gives some peace and escape from life and all it’s noise.

But I’ve personally found that the warmth isn’t a thing for me, it works just as well when it’s very middling or even a bit cold. So in my shame I’ve long since switched from warm ones to those around the 25c ballpark, it’s given me even more peace ever since. Warming the water up is the most consuming part.

But then again I’m from a culture with saunas everywhere, in every house, so I don’t really need showers for the warmth anyway, the relaxing and muscle tension relieving I get from sauna. The overall stimulating peace and silence is what my showers are for. In addition to washing and grooming, of course.

Genuine question that I feel no obligation to answer, deal with my 30 minute shower.

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 2 points 48 minutes ago

another time same buddy woke up for school, took a shower, then just napped in the shower for an hour. he was late 😂

Enjoying life. Enjoying the warmth, enjoying being clean, thinking, singing, relaxing, so on...
