Absolutely disgusting. This is such a massive issue here in Latin America, I hate how scared I have to be all the time of the men around me.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 96 points 1 day ago

Gross. I’m sorry you have to put up with that.

[–] BenjiRenji@feddit.org 71 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My wife is Latina and she definitely complains much more about this than Western women have. Machista behavior is too normalized.

[–] muxika@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

Machistas fucking suck. My father is one and it's cost him his immediate and extended family. He's practically all alone.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 day ago

thats fucking nasty. im sorry you have to worry about that

With the number of politicians/mayors who get killed each year in Mexico, how in the hell is someone allowed to get that close to her? Holy shit.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 36 points 1 day ago

If I were the president of Mexico I wouldn’t be mingling in crowds like this at all, but yeah her security was wayyy too slow on the draw.

Mexican here, this was an act. She was in a great deal of political pressure because a prominent politician/activist not associated with the regime of the ruling party, Morena, was killed and she tried to minimize it.

AMLO, the former president, founder of Morena, used to do this ridiculous acts too. Somehow a rando could walk to him taking a (fan) letter out from from his jacket, and hug him, in national TV, while his massive security team did absolutely nothing. Claudia Sheimbaum also has a massive security apparatus, this doesn’t happen without them allowing it.

The guy apparently has appeared in older videos as part of her security team, and in some angles you can see he has a holster. We Mexicans joke that all the randos doing these ridiculous but very convenient acts have an army haircut. So far it has held true, your kids do better acting at the spring festival.

Just as people demand Trump to stop distractions about the Epstein files, people here demand Sheinbaum to stop distractions and solve the public execution of Carlos Manzo by the cartels.

My boobs got groped in public the first year they were appealing to men. I didn't even realize what had happened at first.

Edit: I'm trans and my boobs became first attractive to men in my 40s. The incident I'm describing happened in the US.

I have the same question because I believe that person is not a loaf of bread^1^so I also question whether they live in Estonia. I like to think we're better than that here nowadays (30 years ago might have been different, 90s were hell).

^1^ Eesti leib means Estonian bread in, well, Estonian

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i mean, ill be honest, ive heard this happening in select countries, and still is gross. To hear it this widespread across countries just blows my mind.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 day ago

Unfortunately it still happens in a lot of places, I'm just hoping it's not as common here as the comment above described. Kinda sucks to raise a child in a society where groping is deemed acceptable.

The country that elected the "grab them by the pussy" President?

I'm more impressed by the fact that she wasn't stabbed.

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 48 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm impressed he wasn't shot. Surely she wasn't the only one with guns.

People is talking in México, everybody is saying (including me) that is a smoke screen for the last events that have took place in the country: Waldos' incident in Hermosillo and Carlos Manzo's murder in Uruapan, both happening the same day, the Day of the Dead's eve.

Edit: If really is a smoke screen, Morena is showing us once again that you always can get lower. Only they can use a real problem like women harassment to make people forget that Mexico is mad and we want a real change.

Edit 2: It's already happening: https://www.jornada.com.mx/noticia/2025/11/05/politica/ony-y-onu-mujeres-respaldan-a-sheinbaum-tras-episodio-de-acoso I hate this goverment so much

[–] workerONE@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (4 children)

You're saying she wanted to be groped, that she orchestrated it? That's pretty fucked up to say. Anything to allow this type of behavior, right?

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 23 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (9 children)

If I'm reading the edit correctly, cappucino is saying that women being harrassed is a real problem in Mexico and that Morena is fucked up enough to use it as a distraction from other serious issues.

Edit; they're also blaming the party, not her specifically. Reading up on her, I think she's OK. The party seems corrupt though.
