Imagine if this guy spent this much energy on building housing.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 35 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Wasn't that his previous career?

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 67 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It was less " building" and more "extracting rent as a management company".

Any building he did was for corporate space, resorts, or casinos.

So like the same situation with those fishing boats? Just going to go and kill a bunch of people without a trial and claim they were cartels. ?

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 66 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

Oh this won't go well.

Cartels don't... Care about war crimes. Like at all. Like less than Trump.

These soldiers families are about to be at risk.

Wild shit to go military on cartels.

[–] FoxyFerengi@startrek.website 42 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Seriously, he does not have a single clue what he's marching the US into. That's going to be incredibly messy at best

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 15 points 2 days ago

And going forward. The cartels won't forgive or forget what happens.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Uh, pay attention, the US has been marching stupidly into shit shows since the Korean war. Did we learning nothing from MASH?

[–] Ironfist79@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

Learning things is un-American.

Do you think it would bother Trump if some cartel killers hung corpses from a bridge in the US? It would just allow him to expand his harassment and deportation of Hispanics in the US, give some appearance of legitimacy to a declaration of martial law.

[–] grissino@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Sounds like this is the planned outcome actually.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 18 points 2 days ago

Didn’t he want to fly families out to surprise his military minions in Afghanistan as well?

Not too sure how tough the Marines will be when their kids start disappearing.

Can we just... not?

The Military Industrial Complex forces the US to always be at war somewhere around the world. Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Palantir (the big one now), and many others are the reason the US is doing this military campaign. Gotta keep those shareholders happy.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 52 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Call his bluff. He just wants to wag his dick around. So mexico should mobilize their army at the border and say "cross this line and you are declaring war."

Guaranteed someone up high makes him understand how politically stupid that would be. Probably in pictures. With small words.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

I don't think we have enough time or crayons for that

Yeah, this is great. We're going to (illegally) invade Mexico ane Venezuela simultaneously, while also occupying our own cities that don't go along the paramilitary immigration Gestapo. Oh, and we're also waging chaotic, impulsive trade wars with literally every country on Earth. Maybe we can get a ground war going in Russia as well, really speed run the imperial collapse.

Watch out for Gandhi

[–] daguma118@lemmy.zip 39 points 2 days ago

He’s not going for cartels, the US supplies cartels with weapons and gives drugs to the US. That’s their cash cow!

He is going because the political parties the US funds in Mexico are loosing popularity and they need to interfere before it’s too late.

[–] aarch0x40@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

In a move straight out of Daddy Putin's playbook.

[–] AreaKode@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

But Trump knows where Daddy Putin went wrong. 3 day operation. 40 mile line of tanks to Mexico City.

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 31 points 2 days ago

So peaceful. Give this man 2 Nobel peace prizes.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 28 points 2 days ago

If the cartels turn Trump and his fellow MAGATs into gas station attendants, I wouldn't mind. They are also welcome to burn down the ballroom.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How are they already bored with invading our own cities? I'm not saying that I endorse any of this shit-show, but can we please just leave our neighbors alone?

Papa Naranja, tenemos muchos personas aqui. ¿Porque necesitas tambien chinga con los personas aya? Iqualmente, por favor no chingale con nosotros. Vayas al dormir, el viejo mejor, por favor.

[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Uh, this is the second neighbour/ally/trilateral trade partner who's sovereignty he's threatened

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (5 children)

Yes, but that was BEFORE he soft-launched martial law against cities that vote against him. Deploying troops is a huge escalation over threats and emboldens his administration while desensitizing us to his horrors.

The last I heard, we've now murdered 10 boatsful of Venezuelans. I don't even know if that number is accurate because I've been too busy to really catch up on all of our current atrocities. The last I'd heard before that number was 3.

The point is, we're getting to the point that we'd shrug at following through on a foreign invasion. What I'm saying is that while we're now watching our fearless leader make good on bad promises, let's keep a Mexican invasion categorized under TACOs. If we start threatening to force our way north, then you'll get to see how much worse my French is than my Spanish.

No he isn't, he isn't declaring war with mexico, that would be REALLY, REALLY stupid.

This is one of his horrible attempts at negotiating with Mexico, but it just comes across as insanity.

[–] KneeTitts@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago

that would be REALLY, REALLY stupid

You know he is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY stupid right?

If he incurs on Mexico, I fully expect Mexico to declare war.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Not to worry. That perfect impenetrable wall that Trump had built during his first term will protect us all from the Mexican army.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 14 points 2 days ago

He is just trying to make points for the next Nobel Peace Prize.

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Are we also going to be invading Nigeria to stop "persecution" of Christians?

[–] dan69@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (4 children)

If the us couldn’t the stop the “extremists” permanently. Then how the hell are we gonna stop the ongoing war on drugs from the past 10 administrations ago??

Switching from "for the children" to "against cartels" meanwhile the epstein files are getting so old they will just be able to claim you can't even make anything out on them anymore

[–] lemmy_get_my_coat@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

So old that no Republicans would ever want to touch them

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Can this late third trimester pregnancy be aborted, please?
