I don’t know if it’s unbelievable good or unbelievable bad from the title.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 119 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Having gone through their post history, they're generally very appreciative of simple things and beautiful sights, so I'd assume unbelievably good =)

[–] Quilotoa@lemmy.ca 76 points 2 days ago (6 children)

You are correct. I can't believe we actually did it. (We're back now.)

[–] slaacaa@lemmy.world 43 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Wholesome internet stalking

(I use the word "stalking" in jest. I am amused because usually when one has cause to "stalk" a user's post history, it's because there's some drama or dirt that turns up. I always feel awkward and a bit vulnerable when I reflect on how people can peruse your post history at will, but I find the wholesomeness of this subverts the anxiety I usually feel at this prospect. It's scary that we can quickly find enough to summarise a person's online presence, but "generally very appreciative of simple things and beautiful sights" is a lovely thing to be, and makes me wonder how I would come across at a glance. Good, I hope — because it turns out that it is possible to have positive conversations with internet strangers)

The important thing these days is: it must be Instagram worthy. That's all that matters.

You could say that's all that mattress? ... I..I show myself out

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You did good. You can stay

[–] Monster96@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

No, that pun was sheet

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

The picture's not terribly Instagram worthy, but it looks like a really cool trip and I'd love to do that.

I guess that depends on whether said orangutans are brachiators or swingers? 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Being swingers doesn't guarantee they'll wwnt to fuck OP though

Welcome, fellow travelers. I'll be your tour guide.

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Yeah, I was thinking "I hope they left you a mosquito net!"

That's not a bed. That's a buffet table for mosquitos.

[–] dickalan@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Shows how much you get out of the United States there’s no way that isn’t covered with mosquito netting

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 31 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (5 children)

But... There's none in the pic.

Might want to get a mosquito net.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 49 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That's the least of their worries! They might want to get an orangutan net! They can come right in. That's an orangutan bed if they wanted it, not their bed.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Do orangutans normally board waterborne vessels?

[–] protist@mander.xyz 16 points 2 days ago (3 children)

They're notoriously fast moving and aggressive

Do the orangatans get to watch you . . you know?

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago

The real vacation is in the comments.

[–] Kenny2999@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Sure hope not. Seeing sapiens goin at it, the orangutans might become erectus.

100% humidity + bugs + windy. It's a no from me.

[–] nightofmichelinstars@sopuli.xyz 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Also the absolute lack of privacy. It's like having a Facebook account.

This is the fucking dream. Would need a mosquito net, obviously, but otherwise this sounds absolutely amazing.

Does anyone have a link to this cruise?

[–] Quilotoa@lemmy.ca 38 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This is the company we went with. The conditions were a bit basic, but the food was awesome and the river was one of the best experiences in my life. https://www.orangutanapplause.com/

I like how they left you towels, just in case a big wave soaks you while you sleep.

This'll need bottles of anti-bug lotion and protective clothing at the very least, and then night comes you'll have to set up mosquito netting besides electric zappers.

[–] mavu@discuss.tchncs.de 34 points 2 days ago

Your hotel room seems to be missing some walls.

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 24 points 2 days ago

There's no way that doesn't smell musty.

[–] treadful@lemmy.zip 18 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Meanwhile the crew is on hammocks in the engine room.

Wow, obvious to me some people haven't been camping before, that or were miserable the entire time. That looks pretty freaking awesome!

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It does, but I was immediately thinking that mattress would be soaked as soon as it rained or they have water coming on deck

[–] udon@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

In fact, it is quite believable imho
