Summary

Donald Trump faced backlash after admitting he was unaware of four U.S. soldiers missing in Lithuania during a training exercise, despite ongoing search efforts.

Social media users and critics expressed outrage, questioning his leadership and knowledge of his administration’s actions.

Critics also linked Trump’s lack of awareness to the recent "Signalgate" security breach involving a leaked group chat about a U.S. bombing in Yemen.

so as expected, he is out of the loop and simply a figurehead.

completely compromised.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 68 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He famously ignores daily briefings. He was told, more than once, he just doesn't remember or care.

[–] Crazyslinkz@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

That's a side effect of being illiterate.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 39 points 3 days ago (3 children)

He's not a figurehead, he's making decisions when he feels like it. He's just a child who thinks he can ignore parts of his job.

Dubya was a figurehead, he was a clueless mouthpiece for the advisors around him. Trump is just a flippant, evil moron.

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago (2 children)

He has done literally nothing other than Project 2025, and has accomplished it at an amazing pace so far. He may also be a petulant child, but he is absolutely a figurehead this term.

That's fair actually

[–] knobbysideup@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago (2 children)

He's not doing anything but blindly using his sharpie on whatever his handlers put in front of him.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 3 points 3 days ago

The tariffs stink of Trump and only Trump, though. Well, maybe Putin as well, but he wouldn't need much convincing to do it since he stupidly thinks they somehow benefit him. They certainly don't benefit his billionaire buddies.,

[–] WuceBrillis@lemm.ee 11 points 3 days ago

Nah, he is also doing the bidding of the Heritage Foundation. Which is basically just the PayPal Mafia rebranded.

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Really, the major value of being POTUS to Krasnov is staying out of jail. He is letting his criminal associates like Musk and the loathsome Miller run the country.

[–] Red_October@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago (3 children)

He was probably given a report, but since it didn't have enough color pictures he just ignored it. Of course that shitstick thinks he's forever blameless so it's obviously anyone else's fault.

[–] Souroak@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 3 days ago

Well they stopped giving him color pictures since the last time he just took a photo and tweeted it to show the world how bigly smart he is.

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He was probably taking pictures of his balls during the briefing. He has incredible balls, some says they're the most wonderful balls. Biden doesn't have great balls. Sad.

[–] Red_October@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I cannot express how much I hate that that string of words entered my brain.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 3 days ago

If it had some pictures to color out, alongside with pens, it would add a nice touch to those boring briefings. Maybe add a lolly too!

And a little racecar!

This is the guy who didn’t want to visit the Normandy WW2 memorial / cemetery because it was damp out (amongst many, MANY other examples of his complete and utter disdain for service members). This is 0% surprising.

He likes the concept of the US military. He doesn’t give a single flying fuck about the people in the US military. ~~If~~ When a serious war actually starts under his eye (see what I did there), I would not be surprised if he slots in a bunch of sycophantic imbeciles into strategic and tactical leadership positions and strongly encourages the use of Russian-style meatwave tactics, and then blames the resulting immense casualties on Biden or “an tea fuh” or some shit.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Said specifically that he only likes soldiers who don't get captured to a (granted) peice of shit who happened to be a pow (which was his own fault but that's another story.)

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago

Bitch Tits in Chief doesn't want to hear any bad news. Remind you of anyone?

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

No one told him because there was no point. They know he doesn't give a shit. He's said as much before. It would have been a waste of time and energy to tell him. And he's the kind of guy that would have fired them for wasting his time.

Literally a net negative for everyone to bother letting the current President of the United States know what is going on.

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

If they are dead or missing they would be losers in his mind, so why bother wastng time or energy on it when you could be golfing and setting yet another course record.

I would love to see an televised Obama/Trump golf match just to show how much of a liar and cheat Trump is, even at golf. Trump would get waxed despite "winning his course championship" every single year.

We are getting to North Korea levels of propaganda and they are just gobbling it up.

"Listen, I'm just here so I could avoid getting arrested and so I can unleash my vengeance against those that would dare to hold me accountable to my actions. Whatever else happens, I don't give a fuck. Money and no accountability, that's what I want."

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 10 points 3 days ago

The more orange his face gets, the whiter his hair looks.

It's the bleach effect.

[–] TwinTitans@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Why would he be? Elon was.

[–] thisphuckinguy@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago
[–] pyre@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

he's not even the president why would they brief him

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Man, this Trump guy is really bad at this whole president thing.

Too bad people didn't know about this before the election. Like as if he already had a stint as maybe a governor or some other high position where you need lots of awareness of the goings on. Like if he had been president already, there's no way this guy would have gotten a second term you know?

[–] Galapagon@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

Yeah, so even if he was elected once, after people said he'd never win, there's no reason more people would need to vote the second time either!

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The Sgt Schultz Defense: "I know nothing!"

Its very popular among MAGA Traitors. TouchMePutin Gabbard has been employing it like she gets royalties.

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If you think THATS bad just Imagine if he was Black or a WOMAN while knowing EXACTLY where those Soldiers WERE!

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

History tells me that's an impeachable offense. Definitely if he had a brown suit.

[–] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 3 points 3 days ago

He only likes soldiers who DON’T go missing.

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They wanted to wait a bit before the lying began.

[–] Lexam@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Their lying has no refractory period.

Not even the guy with his hand up Trump's ass knew? Wow!

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 17 hours ago

Trump doesn't care. He has more important things on his mind like golf and hamberders.

I expect nothing less from this ignoramus.

[–] Helvetica@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

He's already proven that he doesn't care about rank and file soldiers. Someone probably started to brief him and his eyes glazed over and he waved them away so he could obsess over tariffs and invading Canada some more.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Defectors? Would they even admit it if it was?

[–] The_Worst@feddit.nl 1 points 3 days ago

He probably is gonna impose some tariffs on Lithuania.
