collapsed inline media

Now imagine if everyone was armed to the teeth and showed up to protest peacefully. I feel like that's what it would take to make kidnappers think twice about fucking around.

In many states, it is illegal to bring weapons of any kind to a protest or demonstration, often whether said event has permits or not.

Such bullshit. We shouldn't be prevented from exercising multiple rights at once.

Bring sporting equipment. Golf, hockey, baseball - all very popular athletic pursuits.

The J6 Insurrectionists have insisted that the J6 Traitors were unarmed, and the bats, cattle prods, chains, spears, flagpoles, etc. weren't weapons, so that made J6 a "peaceful" demonstration.

Perhaps we should give them a taste of their version of a peaceful demonstration.

Yeah it's really annoying. Last time I went protesting I came home to troops quartered in my house.

I'm not aware of any law in Minnesota that makes this illegal but most of the protests here start, end or are entirely on state/federal government property where it is illegal to carry.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Might well be true. Of note, where there is such a law, they'll generally be referring to any weapons, and not only firearms.

Makes sense for constitutional carry states. I'd imagine in other permit states, like Minnesota, it's governed by the laws around permitting and carrying since they are applying restrictions rather than legalizing something that is otherwise illegal.

You can't mix your First and Second Amendments? That hardly seems fair.

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

That's not what the Constitution says

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 1 points 6 hours ago

You're going to have to provide a specific citation for that. If you're talking about 2A, that right to bear arms is already not a right to carry anywhere at any time.

Finally, a good guy with a gun.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 16 points 18 hours ago

Did the gun get damaged in the incident?

I only want that guy brought in because he's not mindful of what's between him and his target. He almost shot two protesters.
