One of those will get you somewhere reliably and fast. Unfortunately the somewhere is a detention camp.

You got me in the first half!

Reliable being 2 hours late and with no AC

Both are getting people out of the country!

yeah, the DB is horrendous, but the ICE trains work pretty well

… 100% of the time, 5% of the time.

In 2023, the on-time arrival percentage of ICE trains was 60something%. That's not exactly a number that screams reliability. I don't remember the exact number DB had to pay out for delay compensations that year but it was an embarrassing sum. Just today 2 separate people in my group chat were saying unsavory things about DB's mother because of 30+ minute delays on two separate ICE trains.

German trains being on time is a myth.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

While punctuality is not the German trains strong point, this is mostly due to congestion and construction sites. The trains as such are remarkably reliable.

if you want to know how well ICEs can perform with a functional rail network, look to Spain's renfe. It's built by Siemens and basically an ICE with a purple strip.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

Indeed, they are working better on a non-congested rail system.

Probably because it is a german train brand/type: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intercity_Express

It is way faster than a car, so Americans won't want it.

High-speed train in Germany.
