Trump dying sounds good until you consider he'll be replaced by JD Vance

JD Vance dying sounds good until you consider he'll be replaced by Mike Johnson.

[–] ChonkyOwlbear@lemmy.world 41 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I was curious how far down the line of succession you would have to go to find someone who would not be a catastrophically bad president. 11 positions down is the Secretary of Labor, Lori Chavez-DeRemer. She's a Hispanic woman who was one of 6 Republican house members who signed a pledge to respect the results of the 2024 election, the only Republican cosponsor of a pro- union bill, and opposes a national Bank on abortion or IVF. Far from Ideal but light years better than the rest of the fascists on the list

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (3 children)

It would be nigh impossible for that outcome though. If trump dies, Vance assumes the role but then selects a new VP. This new VP is now first in line and Johnson hasn't moved up at all. It would take the synchronized deaths of all those others in line ahead of Lori Chavez-DeRemer for her to get the position. This is a known possibility so they generally keep people separated to some degree. That way if someone wants to plot a mass assassination to clear the line, it's much more difficult. They couldn't just try to bomb one building or something.

I’m an atheist but on Inauguration Day I was praying. Then they moved it inside suddenly. All those billionaire butt kissers were there too…

JD Vance doesn't have the following or the charisma to pull off the nonsense Trump does. MAGA doesn't work without Trump. Anytime MAGA has been in an election without Trump it fails pretty spectacularly.

[–] calabast@lemm.ee 25 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Maybe, but if he inherits a full on police state, he might not need charisma or followers any more.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Maybe, but I don't think it will last. I think Trump has a better chance at getting a third term than JD has at getting a first term.

I don't want Trump to die. I want him just in the edge of mental degradation so there's a constitutional crisis. GQP will hesitate to 24A him cause MAGA would revolt. It would be an extremely lame duck presidency.

I want Trump to live long and quiet enough that he's forgotten.

I want him to survive a Cat-5 hurricane that destroys Mar-a-Lago.

I want him to drool uncontrollably in a wheelchair while they take down his name down from buildings and golf resorts and turn them into shelters for the homeless and asylum seekers.

I want all his sons turn into Viserys III Targaryen, paupers and laughing stocks that people entertain out of pity, not respect.

I want him to live a long life in interesting times.

[–] wise_pancake@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I think they’d Weekend at Bernie’s him to pass the worst legislation you’ve ever heard of.

If it’s unpopular Trump gets the blame and he’s too incapacitated and impotent to lash out at them.

Basically what Trump accused the Biden admin of doing.

It would be an extremely lame duck presidency.

It already is. Haven't you seen him sign those executive orders and it's immediately apparent he's never seen or read it before that moment? He doesn't have any clue what he's going to sign before they put the paper in front of him.

Trump is in the White House for two reasons- make himself richer and avoid prosecution for his crimes. Everything else that's happening is being masterminded by someone else. Smart money is on Stephen Miller.

Your ears you keep and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God! What is that thing," will echo in your perfect ears. That is what "to the pain means." It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.

That sounds delightful.

"Trump is going to die any day now" is a thing people were posting in 2018. It's a thing people were posting about Vladimir Putin in 2018.

It's all court gossip and click bait bullshit.

They’ve been saying shit like this for years. Horrible people live far, far too long.

[–] ButtermilkBiscuit@lemm.ee 16 points 1 day ago

Pretty sure I remember reading this exact headline during trump1. It's wishful thinking at best.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago

Apparently the the trick to longevity is alcohol sobriety with a healthy variety of amphetamines and fast food.

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 49 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Nothing will get him out of office other than death. That includes 2028.

[–] Ultraviolet@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

I don't know if even death will. Maybe he stops making public appearances for "national security reasons" and only communicates through video broadcasts. Anyone who notices something is slightly off about them, like frames where he has extra fingers or nonsense text on the papers on his desk is called a conspiracy theorist, and to shut up and celebrate the Dear Leader's 170th birthday.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

nonsense text on the papers on his desk

I mean this wouldn't necessarily indicate AI in this case

Sadly, the grim reaper pulled the actress that played Houlihan on mash out of the claw machine instead of trump.

My hope is that he has a massive stroke live on TV and then ends up wheelchair-bound unable to speak without the help of a Stephen Hawking style talk box and then deteriorates over the next few months and off to the golf course with ya Donny.

I hope his head is removed from his shoulders by the gravitational force of the sharpened edge of a thin quadrangular sheet of metal, but to each their own I suppose.

Despite these concerns, the White House physician, Captain Sean Barbabella, issued a clean bill of health in April, stating Trump "exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health."

Oh, right. The same people who covered up how close to death Reagan was after a pedophile shot him.

"He's a guy who's subsisted off of McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken and well done steaks for a very long time," he said. "He is not a healthy guy."

This is it for me. Well done steaks? Medium rare, ride or die. Let's go!

Wait. You're telling me that people in their late 70s early 80s don't make for great presidents??

No way. 😐

I don't see how it could make any difference.

He's already an idiot, a delusional narcissist, and a compulsive liar, so it's not as if he could become even more detached from realitybthan he already is. And his supporters don't care (and likely don't even notice), since they're even dumber than he is.

And it's not like he"s going to forget his platform, since it's pretty much just hating immigrants and LGBTQ, dicking over poor people, singing his own praises and scamming as much money as possible, and that's all as natural and automatic to him as breathing..

Really, there's just not much cognition going on there in the first place - it's more in the nature of infantile immediacy and animal instincts - so I can't see how any loss of it would matter much.

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh great - President Vance then. 🤮🤮🤮

[–] throwawayacc0430@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

At least you wont die of a temper tantrum global nuclear war.

Congrats, this "titanic" we're on will now sink just a teeny tiny bit slower... (talking about climate-change denialism) 🫠

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 17 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (4 children)

I reckon Vance has the potential to be a lot more volatile and cruel than Trump. Trump's just a greedy, dumb arsehole that says whatever he thinks will make him a buck. Vance creeps me the fuck out, and his rich mates are no better.

[–] CalipherJones@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Vance is smarter and more youthful than Trump. He's backed by technocrats. I find him insufferable. I hope his base does too should he ever get his hands on the presidency because he has the potential to be more dangerous than Trump.

Just look at some of his speeches from the last time he was president and you'll see the difference is night and day. Before it was just stupidity, but now it's so much worse and he can barely form a sentence compared to then. And for all the people saying "well, Biden was clearly in decline too and everyone tried to hide it." And you're probably right. But you know what? He's not the president right now. And if it was such a big deal back then it should be an even bigger deal now because we are still letting it happen.

So, as expected, he will die without suffering the consequences of his actions.

Sounds about white.

American justice is the butt of a joke.

Assuming he's dead or leaves in 2028, America wasted 8 years on a felon rapist. 8 years of our lives with not just no progress, but regression. Means we'll see less progress and less benefits in our short lives. So fucking pathetic.

I dont think it would solve the overall issue the US has, tho it would be not the worst thing to happen

[–] Drewmeister@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

It's not like he's going to begin acting like an irrational idiot soon. Why would this change anything?

[–] raltoid@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

I mean, yeah? That's why they pushed Thiel's puppet as VP.

That was the idea.

Trump dies in office, JD Vance is sworn is an President

[–] 2ugly2live@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

I want him to fall into the pits of hell, but before he does, his scorched, cheeto dust fingers breech the surface one last time to curl around Vance's pant leg, dragging him down with him.

[–] blorbo@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

C'mon, Rick Wilson saying something mean about Trump isn't news. He's not changing any Republican minds, his Lincoln Project has been outside the tent for years.

Biden stayed on, Woodrow Wilson stayed on, Rotten Regean stayed on. I would imagine there was even more Presidents not medically competent to run the country.

Having your President medically incompetent to run America seems to be tradition.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Wish all you want that Trump preferably dies soon but it doesn't matter. He is merely the punching bag and front for the real rulers: the oligarchs. They will only prop up someone else as the fall guy, while they steal every fibre, life and soul of everything they touches.

I can't wait for corporate fascism! Enclave when?! /s

But seriously, America wants to speedrun to corporate fascism (Thiel and Musk are accelerationists after all). But even without this speed running, corpo-fascism is only the logical conclusion of America's deranged obsession and worshipping of capitalism.

[–] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They'll just wheel him around like they did with Alzheimer's Reagan in the 80s. Anything to keep up doing the most evil shit they can think of without repercussions
