I hope for the best, but I know how this world works. Her death will not move mountains, just add another name to the list of innocent people that have died from this "conflict". It will be a blip across the screen for maybe a day, and then the next horrible thing will happen to take it's place.

I don't think sinking this aid vessel would do anything to change the public conversation. The people who are aware already either condemn Israel or support the genocide. The unaware will not care about a handful more dead innocents.

The bottom line is that Israel is openly and proudly committing atrocities and the international community is not willing to stop it. Only a military intervention could dissuade the IDF.

I wish I could agree with you, but the situation in Gaza looks more and more like something we've seen before. After the end of World War 2, the world reacted with shock at what had been done to the Jews - murder has never been committed on such a grand scale and in such organized fashion. Jews had been dehumanised in public long before, being equated to rats and other vermin. The Zionists currently holding on to power in Israel are using the same kind of rhetoric against Palestinians. However, one difference between then and now is that the Rwanda genocide taught us that the world is entirely capable of sitting back and watch the horror unfold, even though we're all fully informed of what's going on. A ship of brave volunteers being sunk would cause a stern letter or at best sanctions. Israel can act with utter impunity as long as they're backed by their big brother Uncle Sam.

I don't understand why people would think, "they surely won't kill me, it would be too immoral!" while protesting a literal genocide.

In March 16, 2003, Rachel Corrie, an American nonviolence activist, placed herself in the path of a Caterpillar D9R armored bulldozer in Rafah, in an attempt to impede house demolitions, and was run over by the bulldozer and murdered. I strongly discourage you from finding it, but there is video of her death. They definitely saw her, surely heard her screaming, and they did not hesitate.... On March 16, every year since including this year, Israeli soldiers (and others) eat waffles in celebration of killing her.

Imagine trying to bring a humanitarian aid vessel to one of the Jewish ghettos in Nazi germany pre-wwii... Do you think the Nazis would be afraid of "the kind of media storm" they'd get? Or would they just kill them and continue the genocide?

I wouldn't say it's pointless, or that it's not brave... but it's naive to think that a genocidal regime, who is very public about their genocide, will suddenly have a crisis of conscience because they don't want to kill white people.

also, for the record, she did not attempt to do this before. She acted like she was going to attempt to, but then didn't get on the boat. I don't think she should get on it, either... that's not her skillset and the only point of her being on it is, "oh but they wouldn't dare to kill greta!"... and they surely would kill her, and not apologize, and probably celebrate her death.

Israel is a heartless genocidal monster of a nation. It doesn't give two shits for any "generational icon" and the US has already voiced support for drowning her. This is the worst timeline and icons don't matter to power.
