I have never watched a single video of his.
I never want to do it either.
He was in a video I watched once. I don't remember the whole context, something to do with how he was so successful at working YT's algorithm. Had never heard of the guy before then, and all of the content samples they showed were braindead nothingburgers.

Dead eyes.
His smile NEVER reaches them. He's such a grifter
He never figured out how to fake a smile. He knows a smile means moving the corners of the mputh up and showing some teeth, but his eyes remain dead and uncaring.
And him photoshopping every thumbnail to be overly saturated and bright with smoothed out skin doesn't help.

My hopes for world evolution are dashed when I see people still falling for this stupid shit every day.
I hate influencers too so I get it, but I figure its mostly kids and young adults who grew up watching him, so I put the blame more on the systems and communities they grew up in.
Those kids should have been protected by say.. A strong consumer protections board, or parents controlling their screen time & curating their viewing, government banning phones at school, or outright banning social media for kids, or a quality education teaching them media literacy - but all of those things are demonized as bad things that those socialist European countries have.

Thing is this isn't the first time. He did more challenges with awards but once the video was done he took up and left off. Smiling to the bank with that uncanny valley expression.

Replying to a fan's complaint on X, Donaldson admitted it "definitely isn't the experience we hoped they'd deliver" and promised to make it up by inviting everyone affected to his studio.
I feel like this could have been on purpose. If it wasn't he would have offered refunds.
I doubt it. Inviting to the studio is probably way cheaper - not everyone will do it since people would have to travel, and even when they come, there's not much cost to a quick tour or whatever.

This is the type of ghing that he shouldn't need to appologize for. The appology does no good. An appology is for if you said something that could be misinterpreted, or you made a bad choice thinking it would play out differently.
This is just an intentionally poorly planned event. They wait in their hotel room for 2 days. Then they get chocolates. In no scenario does that play out differently. Those bags will always contain chocolates if you plan for them to contain chocolates.
So what's the appology? "I'm sorry I ripped you off"?
Also, $9 T-Shirts? I'm confident that if I go into Walmart, their cheapest T-Shirt is $20. So how low quality are these T-Shirts??? Especially since I assume they also have some branded print screening on them.
I agree with most of what you said, but you are severely overestimating the cost of t-shirts at Walmart. They start at $4 for plain or $7 for graphic tees from what I can tell. Even band tees and things like Mickey Mouse are in the $9–14 range based on a cursory glance on their site.

Oh, he 100% is. Not what he says with his words, but what he says with his dead eyes and propped up smile. He's not chasing a dream, he's running away from a nightmare of fame that has left him a hollow yet addicted for the high of fame that is no longer achievable. He is a man who shot for the moon and, instead of landing among the stars, found himself stranded on the cold, lifeless rock, drifting along forever, alone, exactly where he said he wanted to be.

if you go to these or you let your children go, you deserve to get scammed, which is probably also Donaldson's point of view. No respect for that guy btw, but I doubt he has little of it for himself either.
Because he is happy to licence his face and brand to any Tom, Dick or Harry. He certainly got his payment, so oh well.
The sad thing is, once he really hit it big, he could have just done good will stuff and kept the money fucking rolling in.
He didn't have to do * emotions to all of everything * this.
He could have hired a PR firm and a capable management staff, still had fun circle jerking his friends but actually be a positive force for society.
Everybody he has running the show is under educated, incapable, and unashamed of all this.
With that kind of money he should have a office building full of people working this shit out.
