/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Chris Fenoglio, artist who worked on the Lower Decks ongoing comic book series, recreated the iconic pin-up of X-Men in swimsuits for the Lower Decks crew. Even some non-crew got featured (to fully recreate every detail of the original).

Everyone has a crush on Tendi. Especially Rutherford.

[–] confuser@lemmy.zip 28 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Everyone on lemmy is Rutherford

[–] ProfHillbilly@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I will be honest, though. While Tendi is a hearthrob, I feel I would be into T'Ana in a weird way.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 6 points 2 weeks ago

Are you a masochist with a unusual amount of pain tolerance?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Everyone on Lemmy is what the result would be like if Rutherford and Boimler got Tuvix'd.

Yes, my mistake

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 5 points 2 weeks ago

Do I have a Vulcan implant and one eye? Nope ❌

Am I a Filipino man? Yes ✅

🤷‍♂️ Close enough.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I wish I was Rutherford. I'd be a guy that couldn't pass Starfleet Academy (not sure I'd even get in, they reject applicants right? I don't actually know)

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Starfleet Academy is basically just going to higher education right? That's how I always saw it, you would complete your required education and then if you wanted you could go to university, and one of the options was Starfleet. So presumably anyone who graduates is essentially automatically eligible to join.

Presumably some people don't join though, they only go to the academy to learn how to be an engineer or a pilot and then go work on the civilian ship.

It has some sort of admissions lottery since we see wesley being rejected the first time he takes the test.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 1 points 2 weeks ago

He wasn’t rejected. He failed the entrance exam. He was literally competing against multiple other people and didn’t score the highest. Not a lottery.

Go watch Orange River.

I get that it's a 'bit' and all but it has gotten to the point of creepy bullshit involving Tindi to the point of pure cringe.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What is Orange River? I can only find results for the river in Africa.

[–] singletona@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

https://www.youtube.com/@OrangeRiver

Generally a solid channel that's mostly star trek but has covered blade runner, halo, mass effect, and a few other things. It's simply the tendi bit that grates.

THIS IS AWESOME

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 10 points 2 weeks ago

Billups no! Stay away from that Horga'hn!

[–] mynamesnotrick@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago

Badgey in a speedo... lolllll... Tendi smokes.

[–] QueenMidna@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's (almost) Naked time!!!

(Yes I just watched this episode again)

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 4 points 2 weeks ago

That is ambiguous. You could be referring to three different episodes.

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] showmeyourkizinti@startrek.website 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Thanks I was wondering what the book Boims was holding was about. It’s a very nice touch.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I figured it was a memoir. Six month prior to this episode’s release, The Autobiography of Mr. Spock by Una McCormack had been published. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/577045/the-autobiography-of-mr-spock-by-una-mccormack/

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Was looking for the two in the back, than realized they are the dolphins.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Beluga whales, not dolphins.

I do not like the implications that Badgey wearing a budgie smuggler has.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 1 points 1 week ago

This is specifically a homage to the X-Men swimsuit special. It would be only appropriate.

It was probably that guy reading a book by the pool while still flashing his horga’hn.

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Picard: This "whore gone" is defective.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I seriously wonder if he knows Riker asked him to get it as a prank.

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I did not get the impression he did at the end of the episode, which is a definite "hilarious in hindsight" lol.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I love it ... and seeing how I always wanted to collect comics in the 90s as a teen but could never afford it, this is amazing.

The only thing lacking is the amount and prominence of torpedo breasts.

[–] singletona@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I would like to think we have evolved in our degeneracy over the decades since. Breasts of all shapes are to be appreciated.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Agreed ..... it was just a nostalgic thing. We analyzed those comic women like a science when I was in high school. We even studied among ourselves how to draw them. At first it was sexual (and it stayed that way with a lot of my friends) but a few of us became obsessed with trying to emulate the art style. Surprisingly it isn't easy to draw proportionally perfect body parts without making a character look weird or badly draw. The one thing it did teach me was to appreciate human anatomy more.

[–] singletona@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Oh it gets even worse when you're trying for dynamic poses and angles.

Glad to see love of comics sparked an attempt at getting artistic.

[–] singletona@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Ransome looks like he's pannicking. wonder why.

Also everything going on and Tindi just out there vibing.

Horga’hn

https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Horga%27hn

OOooooo.

Yeeeaaaa. Ransom. Billups. Step away from the fertility idol.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 8 points 2 weeks ago

Well the Risian seems to be shocking him.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

As someone who owned the original Marvel swimsuit comic, I approve.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Dr Katz should also be flexing :)

Also, who's Ransom with, and who are those three in the x-men universe? Don't recognize the woman next to Ice Man and the one riding Beast either.
