Probably a play on Orwell’s 1984 “IngSoc” party but with “Dem” instead
"Demsoc" is just a shorthand for "democratic socialist". Similar to how "ancap" is "anarcho-capitalist" and "nazbol" is "national-bolshevik".
What I don't get is why he's called a democratic socialist and not a social democrat. You know, the widely used term for parties with his kind of politics around the world.
Yes
Demsoc = democratic socialist. They're the more progressive wing of the American Democrat party who are beginning to take power from the old neoliberals.
They basically just want a system like what Europe has instead of our current system of crony capitalism.
Afaik it's the biggest American political movement that Europe would consider to actually be on the left part of the spectrum.
