Has anyone ever asked you to call them a neopronoun? Like I’ve been in some queer as fuck spaces and I’ve never encountered someone with neopronouns. I don’t most people have. So it seems the anger is more at an entirely imagined scenario where someone might ask you to call them (oh wow, so confusing) a neopronoun?

It’s just so fucking weird, to be upset at a scenario where someone might ask you to refer to them in a way that you personally think is silly. It has literally zero impact on your life. It gives weird control freak vibes - that other people need to live their lives in a way that makes you comfortable.

One of my friends from high school was a ze for a while, while actively transitioning, and sort of going in and out of fem/ masc presentations, and dressing. Once she got her breasts done she was just a she though.

They were very unbiased by pronouns and even dead- naming though. Like if you asked, they'd say they were a ze, but really didnt care if anyone still called them he or even she, and werent going to correct someone even if they used the old masculine name. There was also an aspect of the original name being pretty unique, whereas the new one was a more generic one, so it was often a matter of

"oh, you know sarah..." "Sarah?" "you know, used to be Gerrard..." "oh, that Sarah! Oh course I know her!"

There are two replies to the parent comment.

One saying that neo pronouns barely exist, and they're imagining a person who would be angry at it.

The other comment is basically asking for a fight with their Xe preferred pronoun friend.

I just thought the contrast and dichotomy of that was noteworthy.

Yes. Are you erasing these people?

Has anyone ever asked you to call them a neopronoun? Like

There was a person on Lemmy for a while who insisted on "dragon rider" as a pronoun

Hey, non-binary person in one of the most trans places on the planet. I have in the past 8 years of Pride events and non-binary meetups met only about three people who ever attempted to use a neo-pronoun and only one memorable person who wanted to be called "puppy". They were like 16 and by the time they were 20 they'd cringe at their past behaviour.

Some people are weird. Particularly when they are on the internet. They are usually young and most of them would make it through maybe an irl day being called "dragon rider" before the effort it takes to keep that up would wear them down.

I'm not mad, just saying that other people think much of this is silly at best. You just have to frame me as angry to have any sort of rebuttal.

And no, not a soul has asked me to call them any pronoun. I go with what seems to make sense and would be happy to be corrected. But I would still refuse the bullshit pronouns in the pic I posted.

How would you say "ey/em" can go fuck themselves?

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

“I’m not angry” “[entirely made up person I’ve never encountered] can go fuck themselves”

Usually, when I say someone can go fuck themselves, they’re being actively shitty. You’re just mad at someone asking you to use certain words describe them. If that pisses you off, you must have a really short temper.

Also, the “control” aspect remains. You want to decide what people be called. That’s just weird - how does it matter to you? Maybe consider DBT therapy, that’s all about dealing with how the world doesn’t have to be your way all of the time.
