President Trump says he may send National Guard to New Orleans next instead of Chicago "We're making a determination now," Trump said in the Oval Office to reporters. "Do we go to Chicago or do we go to a place like New Orleans?" Portrait of Joey GarrisonJoey Garrison USA TODAY

President Donald Trump suggested he may not send National Guard troops into Chicago as he's repeatedly threatened, and for the first time introduced a potential new target for his next crime crackdown: New Orleans.

One day after he declared, "We're going in" about plans for Chicago, Trump on Sept. 3 said his administration still hadn't decided whether he would deploy troops to the nation's third-largest city. Trump instead pointed to New Orleans, a city in a Republican-led state, in contrast to Democratic-led Illinois.

"We're making a determination now," Trump said in the Oval Office to reporters. "Do we go to Chicago or do we go to a place like New Orleans, where we have a great governor, Jeff Landry, who wants us to straighten out a very nice section of this country that's become quite, you know, quite tough, quite bad"?

"So, we're going to be going to maybe Louisiana," Trump added.

Fuuuuck. So once again I am guessing he's going with the path of least resistance bc our governor would literally burn us to the ground if Trump asked him to show his loyalty. I have no no doubt he would let Trump use us to test out any authoritarian bullshit requested.

Meanwhile, I believe Trump lost a lawsuit yesterday with California and I know Chicago's mayor and governor were both making plans and preparations to resist occupation. So again this will be a very easy way to signal he's doing something.

BTW, in addition to already having a private nonprofit surveillance company that works with NOPD and LSP (and already set up the only live tracking facial recognition surveillance system of its kind in the U.S. with no notice or input to the public) the National Guard will be New Orleans 4th official branch of city dedicated law enforcement:

NOPD

Louisiana State Police (LSP) branch Troop Nola was permanently established in the city last year by Governor Landry almost as soon as he took office.

And if you have anything like a car wreck, you have to deal with a private company the city contracts out to called On Scene Services (OSS)

All I've heard since Troop Nola was established is how much crime is down and we should be grateful for their presence. But apparently that has suddenly changed and we need to add a 4th (in addition to ICE and official ICE State police partners who may already be using the facial recognition surveillance tracking system with zero oversight.

They all hallucinate. Just like NA (Natural Intelligence, which I suspect is also an LLM)

That it is technically possible on all of them does not mean that they all do it to the same amount. Geez Lemmy users need to catch up and not be left behind in their rabidness. AI isn't going to take your job, someone that knows how to use Ai will take your job.

Yikes. AI is horrendously inaccurate but sure. You came here and picked a fight about this because you want to feel right but you're not
