Why can't a leftist candidate do that? What's the secret sauce? Is it violence, or the threat of violence?
It would be easy like this
I will make healthcare free for everyone! We're going to have the best healthcare in the world and billionaires are going to pay for it!
I'm going to start a federal drug program! We're going to have the cheapest drugs in the world and no-one will have to decide between rent and their medication!
I'm going to start a national Give Parents Freedom Act, where we will provide free daycare for any parent making under 100k/year! We will pay for it by cutting the military budget by 1%!
In my first 100 days I'm going to sign the mothers are awsome executive order mandating 1 year of maternity leave for mothers and 3 months for fathers. Employers will not be allowed to fire any new parent.
I'm also going to divert ICE money into a new consumer agency called "IYCIWFYU" (If you collude I will fuck you up) their entire mission will be to investigate corporations that are price fixing and stealing money from the people.
I'm going to make digital Tax filing FREE for everyone and divert all IRS investigations into people making over 5 million per year!

I don't think this is the whole secret because that's basically what our left party in Germany is doing and they're at 11 % in polls...
People are looking for an enemy image onto which they can project their frustration, and they are not willing to target the wealthy class because they irrationally hope to belong to it someday. Instead, they direct their frustration against the poorer and weaker, as it is much easier to distinguish oneself from a group that one definitely does not want to belong to.
This is class struggle from above...
Stupid followers that need to be told to hate someone.
Could probably succeed on a "hate the billionaires" ticket, if these people weren't so programmed with capitalism.
