God loves the righteous, but that's a personal decision we make with the free will we've been endowed with, not something 'given' to us like our height or intellectual capacities. Many people are 'better' than me (taking/needing less, they've given more, for example) and all I can do is try to catch up, at my own pace, and I'm sure God will appreciate the effort.

God rewards the effort, not the outcome. In the same wake we are both tested with hardship and with ease. When things are easy for us it shows if we are extending that blessing to others and remain humble.

…why do you believe in any of your statements?

-Why would god, assuming there is one for some reason and that there is only one for some reason, favor the righteous? Why would he care that you live by the ever subjective moral code of an age and culture? You know included and includes (as third world countries exist) burning witches (say woman who floated on water for not letting go of their breath and drowning) -Being endowed with something means being given, I assume you means created with? Ever owned/seen a cat or a dog? Tho cats are kinda a more dramatical example… -Looking around, in a world which is kinda empty 99,9999999999999999% and where the unlucky freeze and starve on streets in first world countries… I am sure your god cares about your personal growth…

I'm afraid I don't understand some of your questions, so I'll attempt to answer the ones I do understand.

…why do you believe in any of your statements?

I don't know what religion YappyMonotheist subscribes to, but I can confidently say they believe in the God of Abraham so I'll provide some supporting citations from the scriptures of the Abrahamic religions.

Why would god [...] favor the righteous?

Believers in God believe that God is the source of all good (James 1:17, Qur’ān 4:79, Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh 26:2). Being righteous brings you closer to God (Hebrews 10:22, Qur’ān 41:30, The Hidden Words (from the Persian) 69).

Why would he care that you live by the ever subjective moral code of an age and culture?

Consider the influence of religion on society, and how fundamental its ethics are to our culture's ethics, even if we're not aware of it.

Being endowed with something means being given, I assume you means created with?

"Endowed" can mean "created with", as in Article 1 of the UDHR ("They are endowed with reason and conscience..."), and it is used this way here.

I am sure your god cares about your personal growth...

God created us because He loves us (Ephesians 1:4-6, Qur’ān 2:29, The Hidden Words (from the Arabic) 3). As a being that transcends physical limitations, space, and time (1 Kings 8:27, Qur’ān 2:255, Prayers and Meditations 69:1), why would He not care about every one of His creations personally?

-Except that the abrahamic god includes the view of jews, who worship a being equally evil and equally good; just to mention one of the millions… I reckon you an American Christian, that kind of protestant? They tend to use this wild innaccuracy -Yaaay, quotes from a book I don’t believe in! Putting aside the its overwhelming amounts of nonsensical inaccuracies; I am fairly certain you too don’t believe in most of this book too! You just pick the parts you like, say 10 commandments and pretend the parts you don’t like doesn’t exist say woman rights -Also, so your god is our moral compass? Why does his code that your sort claim to champion changes wildly century to century? Say rape? Woman rights? Rights of brown people? Homosexuals… Why does your gods stance of these super super basic things change? -I am painfully aware if the negative effects of your religion, that of Christianity, I do not know of any positives -Ah yes, the loving father who requires daily 3 praises for putting their few month(?) old children on adult bodies into the wilderness to survive to avoid eternal punishment, well not for 4000 years when this was only extended to jews! Whoopsie, how many generations do you reckon that be? But today everything is dandy right? …right?

The response I gave was not necessarily for you; it is for anyone who is genuinely interested in answers to the questions you posed. This is a public forum, after all, and God knows I've struggled with some of those questions before. I would be happy to discuss these questions from my Baha'i (not Christian) perspective in a good-faith conversation, but if you are not interested, I will not bother you.

[–] theUwUhugger@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

But I responded to your answers? I don’t understand the distinction…

According to Miriam Webster a bad faith argument is:

A bad faith argument is an argument made with dishonest or insincere intentions, often involving deliberate misrepresentation, misleading information, or a lack of genuine belief in the position being presented

Which part of my argument do you find bad faith?
