Old people pretending sex is still so fun at that age it's worth losing everything over will never not be funny to me.
Aside from the fact that plenty of people still have sex as they get older, it doesn’t exactly look like they’re just having a random physical affair, does it?
I'm sure they do, but it's not the same anymore.

That makes it sound like you believe that sex is fun enough when you're younger to lose everything over.
It's certainly more understandable to lose your shit over a hot 25 year old woman than a 45 year old one.
Eh, sex is as fun as you make it. If you vibe with the other person it's usually a better time. I think these two just have a connection they have been missing out on with their current partners. Also marriage is a scam anyways. If you really want to commit to someone, you shouldn't need the threat of financial ruin to keep that promise.

Oh stop it. It's not the same anymore. Sex I haven't had in over 30 years. I didn't understand the fuss over something that has such a small payoff for such an enormous investment of resources.
Music? Look, I used to go out clubbing and dance til 3AM, and sometimes even head out to after parties, for the music. It was fun. Do you think sitting at my computer chair and listening to one song a day is even near the same level of enjoyment?
Things just change as you get older. Can we stop pretending otherwise?
sounds like you're unhappy. maybe you need to get laid, but with that attitude I can understand why nobody would want to touch you.
He does sound unhappy, but come on, taunting him for it seems a bit unnecessarily cruel I think. I genuinely feel bad when I hear people excluding themselves from life's pleasures because of age. I mean, sure, I'm old so I don't have sex or consume music in the same way I used to. But I don't have any plans to give up and stop listening, it's one of the things that makes life worth living I feel. If anything, it means more to me now than it ever has. Hearing people willingly give these things up makes me pretty sad honestly. So I'm gonna listen to a song that vibes with my sadness right now :-)

I don't know, I've never met anyone who actually prefers the stick. I know that the stick is a necessary measure in a lot of policy making to improve efficiency, but I've never seen the receiver preferring it to the carrot. Not trying to attack you or anything, just wanted to share my thoughts since you wrote that your intent was to induce a moment of self reflection. In my experience, that's far easier to achieve with the carrot, particularly when strangers discuss stuff online. Anyway, I'll stop talking now, have a good day.
The greasy wheel gets the grease, a social principle I've long ago understood.
It's not the same, but that doesn't mean you give it up, you just adjust your consumption. It's saddening to hear that you gave them up willingly really. I'm old too, but hey, I'll listen to music for as long as my mind functions somewhat normally. And have sex if I can!
So how do you feel about consummating a marriage?
