Stemming from a security researcher and his team proposing a new Linux Security Module (LSM) three years ago and it not being accepted to the mainline kernel, he raised issue over the lack of review/action to Linus Torvalds and the mailing lists. In particular, seeking more guidance for how new LSMs should be introduced and raised the possibility of taking the issue to the Linux Foundation Technical Advisory Board (TAB).

This mailing list post today laid out that a proposed TSEM LSM for a framework for generic security modeling was proposed but saw little review activity in the past three years or specific guidance on getting that LSM accepted to the Linux kernel. Thus seeking documented guidance on new Linux Security Module submissions for how they should be optimally introduced otherwise the developers are "prepared to pursue this through the [Technical Advisory Board] if necessary."

I posted this as a comment yesterday, but it's making me giggle today still so thought it could use a post of its own.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday that the president wears bandages on the back of his hand because he's “literally constantly shaking hands.”

CNN host Jake Tapper isn’t buying the official White House explanation for Donald Trump sporting bandages on the back of his hand, arguing on “The Lead” that there’s more to the president’s health picture than has been revealed.

Tapper discussed the matter with CNN chief political analyst David Axelrod and ex-Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Thursday that Trump wears the bandages as a result of “constantly shaking hands.”

“The White House gave the same explanation for bruising back in July,” Tapper said Thursday. “Obviously, he’s 79 years old. And there is something going on with his health that they’re not telling us, because otherwise, why did he have that MRI?”

She's avoided the blanket the entire year she's been here so far. Maybe it's cold enough for blanket? Maybe she's warming up and is using it because I'm using it? No matter what, it's great!

An agreement between moderate Republicans and GOP leadership in the House to allow a vote on extending expiring Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies is on the rocks as the two sides squabble over the contents of the amendment.

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) and other GOP centrists are planning to introduce an amendment in the House Rules Committee on Tuesday that pairs a two-year extension of the subsidies with eligibility reforms, according to a House GOP staffer who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

But GOP leadership insisted the extension needed to be offset with spending cuts — a demand the moderates balked at. Conservatives opposed to extending the subsidies have frequently cited the cost, which is estimated to be at least $35 billion per year.

A super-complaint has been filed against police forces in England and Wales over years-long delays in investigating sexual offences.

More than 37,000 sexual offence investigations have taken longer than three years to conclude over the past decade, campaigners said.

Sexual offence cases taking more than three years to investigate have increased more than sevenfold over the past 10 years, from 533 in 2014-15 to 4,008 in 2024-25, according to freedom of information requests submitted by the organisations to the Home Office and police forces across England and Wales. At the end of March 2025, there were almost 14,000 investigations that had been open for more than three years, the organisations said.

Their research found that investigations lasting between three and four years had increased from 137 cases in 2014-15 to 2,261 cases in 2024-25.

Parking Garage Rally Circuit DX has been revealed today, greatly expanding the content of this popular retro arcade-style rally racer.

Currently, the DX version is only available to play via the browser on Wavedash. A service that was entirely unknown to me until the press email came in. With Parking Garage Rally Circuit getting Parking Garage Rally Circuit DX as a DLC on Steam next year. I imagine most people will simply wait for the Steam DLC in 2026, rather than pay to play the game in the browser and have pretty much zero ownership at all and have an internet connection required. At least with things like GeForce NOW - the games are still yours (as much as the licensing argument allows me to say they're yours - you know what I mean). Wavedash reminds me of the failure of Google Stadia…

Guan Heng, who filmed at sites in China of alleged rights violations against Muslim group, detained by ICE in August

A Chinese man who left his country after filming at sites of alleged human rights violations against Uyghurs now faces the risk of removal from the United States, according to his lawyer and mother.

Guan Heng, 38, underwent an immigration hearing in New York on Monday after being detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in August, his mother said in an interview.

The case could see him taken out of the United States and potentially landing back in China eventually.

“I’m really, really worried that things will be very bad for him if he is made to return,” Guan’s mother, Luo Yun, told AFP in Chinese.

"The authoritarianism of China and how little it cares about individuals is so scary!" - US Conservatives screech with shrill voices as they deport innocent people to said authoritarian and scary country for no good reason other than blind hatred and a lust for authoritarian violence as if it will somehow magically bring them comfort or prosperity in a zero-sum process.

A series of events in the past few weeks has undercut what little power Johnson ever had among his fellow Republicans in the House. GOP representatives – the group that he theoretically leads – are so angry that they publicly call him names. Republicans are using parliamentary procedures to get votes on bills that Johnson doesn’t want to bring to the floor.

Incumbents panicking over the potential to lose their seats, in a Democratic landslide, are blaming Johnson for their problems. He has to make promises he must know he can’t keep to get bills passed. And Donald Trump is doing nothing to help Johnson in his time of need.
