I wish Signal had an option to create forums. With forum Like ui with threads its easier to organize things and keep up with projects over long periods of time.

Do they even get enough donations to pay for the $100/year Apple developer account fee?

Is there a nooby way to do this? Maybe a gui

for some reason the devs of stremio seem adamant about not adding a bind feature so im hoping theres an alternative of some kind that does have this feature or if theres an application that i can use to force it to not send any data if my vpn is not on.

I dont want to use a vpn with a killswitch because that impacts other applications

ideally a cross platform desktop application

Perfect sounds good!

Sounds great! Will mobile clients be impossible due to the p2p nature of it?

I won’t be home for another 5 days so i haven’t tried running it yet. Idk if bevy supports online so Godot might be a smart move regardless. Especially now that w4 games would help us port it to all consoles so we can do crossplay multiplayer.

Do you have an email or discord or something you can PM me so we can organize development and i know what i need to animate?

I can make a codeberg for us so development is open and not behind discord closed wall so other people in this thread can keep up or help development

This is incredible thank you for sharing this project and interviewing them and posting it here

Im obsessed with this game at barcades but its impossible to play at home. There is a shitty steam version that doesnt have online anymore. Since its an arcade cabinet im guessing they use a computer under the hood of some kind that has the game loaded.

How could one possibly get the game to play on a computer of some kind? Reverse engineering?

No more duplicate posts

One of the things that the recent addition of the Feeds feature highlighted was how many cross-posts / duplicate posts there are. When you display posts from linux@lemmy.world, linux@programming.dev, linux@lemmy.ml, etc all the cross-posts make it get repetitive, really fast. The same thing happens on the home feed too although it's a bit less obvious because there's a wider range of subjects involved.

Except now, it doesn't, because PieFed de-duplicates your feed! And your home page, and your topics. Attached to this post is a screenshot showing how it works out - an article posted to 7 different places is only shown once despite me having joined most of those communities.

We're still figuring out whether it's a good idea to merge all the comments from all the cross-posts into one page and how to do that in a way that respects the different culture/rules in the communities that the posts were made in. It's a tricky UX and social question.

I've held off on adding a cross-post function to PieFed until now but it'll be added soon.

Why is this a thing. I’ve never seen any website be so aggressive in blocking adblock users. Does 50501 want to track its visitors this badly? I wanted to see what it is and can’t browse it without turning off my adblocker? Id rather not read the website and move on

I've been trying different search engines and was pleasently surprised by startpage so i started looking into startmail too and then when i searched for startmail i saw they have a link directly to their dan bongino section https://www.startmail.com/bongino so thats a huge pass from me

for those who dont know he’s a very conservative podcast host whos now the FBI deputy director who pushed the conspiracy theory that trump actually won the 2020 election and rallied against face masks and “In 2018, Bongino said, “My entire life right now is about owning the libs. That’s it.”” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Bongino

EDIT: looks like they saw this thread or something and decided to have the link redirect to the homepage with the discount applied and removed his picture etc from their website. Here's an archive link: https://web.archive.org/web/20250120094905/https://www.startmail.com/bongino/

[Transphobia Warning] Nutomic’s Stance on Transgender People

I want to use Linkwarden to backup websites I find but I can't afford a subscription right now. What's the easiest way to selfhost it on my desktop pc (windows) that will keep it updated and working without having to mess with it or do a bunch of command line stuff?

Throughout the years there's been many useful information shared on staying safe during protests as well as many infographics made. What are some safety tips you've learned and some infographics you've saved?

here's an article i have saved about tear gas and a video of tips and tactics used by the hong kong protestors and an infographic
