I had to ditch ddg when they started injecting my vpn's geoip as a search term in almost every search. It was to the point where I could literally be including an actual city and state as a search term and I would mostly get results for the vpn's location. Naturally there is no option to disable this behavior.

Startpage is nice though.

Bad UX is keeping the majority of people away from Lemmy in c/fediverse@lemmy.world

"but it feels like old reddit". My god, imagine actively preferring the new reddit UI. Let them keep their shiny jangling keys instead of coming over here and pestering the devs for a snoovatar feature or whatever nonsense.

The 'maybe read for 2 minutes to figure it out' miniscule barrier to entry is a feature not a bug.
