The best part is that this is a workplace injury. Someone has to explain why both procedural and physical safeguards weren't in place.

Holy shit I didn't think of that lmao

OSHA representative, clearly exasperated: "So here is the new mo-cap procedure that will prevent any further genital injuries. Please don't call me again."

I looked up "robot kicks man" and found this

The video:

https://xcancel.com/CyberRobooo/status/2005437313837576321

The article:

https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/humanoid-robot-teleoperator-kicks-himself-where-it-hurts/

The process of training humanoid robots can take various forms. Unitree’s G1 robot for example, is trained partly through teleoperation whereby a human operator wears a motion-capture suit or uses controllers to perform particular movements or entire tasks, with the robot mirroring the movements in real time.

But teleoperation clearly carries some risks, especially if you get too close to the robot you’re training.

But the teleoperator then turns slightly to perform a big kick. Unfortunately for the teleoperator, the robot, mimicking his movements, performs the same kick, catching the guy right where it hurts.

He drops to the ground, letting out a yelp of pain as he falls. Of course, the robot falls to the ground too. If it’d been equipped with speech capabilities, we’d have likely heard a yelp, as well.

You can go ahead and delete the first link and the quotes from the article.

No one; and I mean NO ONE wants to read an article about a 10 second video rather than just watching the video themselves. Completely fucking worthless.

The video I found is from Twitter and some people avoid it, so I left in the description

I'll reorder it though

I'd rather read a two seconds text than watch a ten seconds video on Xitter. Especially when the text gives context.

It's not even an actual twitter link. It's a relink site specifically for people that don't want to use twitter. Maybe dial it down a bit there, chicken little?

I also require more information about this kicking robot

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 8 points 15 hours ago

I enjoyed the robot mimicking his 'pain crouch'. 10/10 on rice, would watch again.

Lmfao he kicked himself

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

Just the most perfect metaphor for humans destroying ourselves with technology. 👨‍🍳💋

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 1 points 16 hours ago

I don't like the idea of machines learning to do this.
