First, buy a domain. Then, set up a server, then a hypervisor on the server, then set up a reverse proxy, punch a hole in your firewall, set up MFA, set up a container, install docker, set up NextCloud using a docker-compose, set up accounts and a client on the devices... Simple!

Also KDE connect but I just learned you can send more than one file at a time through it.

• From Android to Linux Desktop: select files then the share button then send to [Your PC Name here] via KDE connect
• Both ways: select Remote Filesystem and just move or copy files around in the file browser.

KDE Connect. You need to be in the same network. But it's clearly the easiest and most useful.

There are already mentions of LocalSend (i use it for smaller stuff), Syncthing (for keeping folders synchronized, i use it to keep Wine prefixes between my Pc and my Steam Deck up to date) and KdeConnect (I use it for Clipboard sharing); I also use Copyparty, which runs on everything that allows python to run (so pretty much everything) and handles everything from single files to folders, up- and download, drag&drop support, serving mediafiles and so on, with lots and lots of features. give it a try!

I use Syncthing for this; it syncs directories on my phone and computer, so to put something on my computer from my phone I just put it in that directory. I share my camera roll so my pictures are synced with my computer.

If you just want a "send this file" application, warpinator might do that.

I use Signal's "note to self" conversation. Since you can install the desktop version of Signal on basically any OS, it is almost perfectly cross-platform.

Maybe a little off the beaten track. I use samba shares on a server, and "Total Commander" on my phone / tablet with the smb extension, so I can easily copy stuff back and forth.

KDE connect works great with Linux. You can easily put stuff on and get stuff off your phone.

SMB share on your router, attached to an M.2 SSD in a USB enclosure.

Or Localsend app/program, shares well over the same WiFi.

I sometimes use element or signal to do that for small files, like pdfs and whatnot. I upload the file to my private chatroom and download from whatever device I need it on.

I use Warpinator. Comes standard on Linux Mint and is available for Android and most other OSes, I think.

Microsoft has Phone Link for both iOS and Android

I usually just use email.

I use total commander (for Android) it has various features to send files between devices. Works really well if you have SFTP set up on your computer, but it has other options.

It's also possible to connect phones together with a USBC cable and do it that way too.

i usually get some hate for this, but i have a samba share on my desktop, which i can access from home network. i use a wake on lan app to wake up the desktop when i need to access the share

Syncthing or Resilio Sync for regular, instant, no-fuss between devices you control.

I use Syncthing-Fork in my phone (has more flexible sybc conditions) to keep specific folders in sync.

I use Resilio Sync on my file server just for the Selective Sync feature, which enables me to easily grab any file from the server from anywhere.

I'm also going to recommend Unified Remote Full, which lets you control your computer from your phone. Like if you're downstairs and want to quick-check something on your PC upstairs, you can just open it up and poke around for what you need.

My only complaints are that it doesn't handle pop-up windows well, and sometimes when I use it in conjunction with Local Send, I can't complete the transfer. Edit - oh, and switching between left and right mouse buttons is a pain.
