The answer as to why is in the abstract: dude was flying on coke.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I've done a whole 8-ball in one night. Coke doesn't make you stupid or blow out your inhibitions. This guy was something special to begin with.

Ok so being a chemistry ignorant as I am, I went to Wikipedia to read about this acid, thinking it was probably a very common household item sold under a different name or perhaps a very common drug with a different street name, you get it. But it's not. It's just some acid used in a variety of industry processes.

Why on earth would anyone, even on drugs, think an enema with acid is something they need to experience? I've never done cocaine and I'm also not into painful anal stuff so if you are into either and care to explain I'd really appreciate it.

[–] SEND_BUTTPLUG_PICS@lemmy.zip 51 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'm into both and I still can't explain what he was thinking.

Well, some people should not do drugs. It can cause all kinds of conditions that you may have genetic predispositions for.

One notable case: drug-induced psychosis which causes (among others) delusions and severe confusion. Sounds like one might pour a deadly acid in their ass when delusional and severely confused.

Surprised he didn’t win a Darwin Award for this one!

[–] edg@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago

No fucking way

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 33 points 1 day ago

How is this cunt alive? And how concentrated is "concentrated"

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 31 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

"intoxicated from intranasal cocaine administration" is such a hilariously sterile way to say it.

I was trying to poop and now I can't. I deserve this for scrolling on the toilet.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 16 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

Sounds like you could use an enema.

Jeeesus they picked the most active possible in amazed they're not just instant dead

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 8 points 1 day ago

if it was left untreated, the necrotic colon wouldve caused sepsis due to secondary bacterial infection.

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This paper is apparently referenced in the Wikipedia page for HF: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrofluoric_acid#cite_ref-28

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago

Cases of intestinal damage from contact with hydrofluoric acid requiring surgical intervention are rare but known in medical literature

[–] LynneOfFlowers@mander.xyz 21 points 17 hours ago

It's not a party unless your doctor gets a whole paper out of it

[–] Tonava@sopuli.xyz 17 points 1 day ago

I wonder was he ever able to get his ostomy reversed since they did just Hartmans, or did the acid also destroy all the anal muscles and all that, preventing it. Yeesh what an interesting and horrid way to fuck up your life

[–] gndagreborn@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Even with the cocaine, the pain must have been INTENSE. can't imagine there wasn't at least some regret deep down.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's not a strong acid, it's just extremely toxic. No idea how much it would have hurt at the time, my guess would be not much, but would have been fucked to experience the aftermath of such an act of idiocy

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The pain isn’t from the acidity. It’s from the fluorine attacking your nerves AND bones.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago

Yep, IIRC many people don't notice exposure until later when that happens

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's just one of the two strongest acids. It is able to dissolve glass. But yes, it is toxic and supposedly it kills by removing calcium from the system.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's not the definition of a strong acid, a strong acid is an acid that protonates easily

It's a weak acid

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 9 points 1 day ago

Okay, despite being a weak acid by the formal definition, hydrofluoric acid is extremely corrosive and dangerous because undissociated HF penetrates tissues and the fluoride ion strongly complexes with calcium and magnesium in the body. This is why HF can cause severe burns and systemic toxicity even though it is not a strong acid in the acid base sense.

I heard about boofing from.the Darwin Awards before, but that was for vodka and the guy did it died because of alcohol poisoning to earn it. This one seems to raised the bar and lived to tell the tale of acid boofing. Which makes me wonder how many interesting people we share this beautiful world...

Damn I need to improve my english vocab. I understood nothing from this.

[–] themagzuz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 27 points 1 day ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (5 children)

tbf this uses a lot of medical jargon that most people who aren't doctors will never need. put simply, it's a case of a man who put hydrofluoric acid in his ass (owie) while high from snorting cocaine

edit: wrong acid, it's actually way worse than i thought

[–] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz 20 points 1 day ago

No, hydrofluoric.

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (3 children)

I know it's not that relevant, but isn't hydrofluoric acid a different and much more reactive acid than hydrochloric acid?

[–] TTimo@lemmy.today 8 points 22 hours ago

It's reactive enough to bond with uranium and make a gas for enrichment. Crazy stuff.

For all you youngins out there: DO NOT PUT HYDROFLUORIC ACID IN YOUR BUSSY

[–] Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

And here I'm wondering what he used for the enema vessel. Hydrochloric acid absolutely wrecks plastic in no time at all, it does significant damage to metals fairly quickly as well. I'm going to assume it was glass.

[–] prex@aussie.zone 6 points 23 hours ago

Mild steel self passivates in HF but damage that layer at elevated temperatures & you can get a metal flourine fire.
