Somehow ended up with one of these in my house as a kid. Nobody had bought it, my parents were avowed agaisnt them because they find them hard to use... must have been a gift from the honey fairy. Anyway, I insisted on actually trying to use it one time.

It's not useful. It doesn't do anything that a spoon doesn't do.

You might argue that it spreads the honey in cute little criss cross patterns but honey is either so runny that it all pools together on the toast/cake it's applied to, or is so viscuous that it doesn't do any of that stuff and needs to be spread with a knife.

Honeydippers might be a medieval "emperor's new clothes" style hoax.

Grew up beekeeper, did not have one of these.

I guess that works if you use more runny honey but my honey is so stiff that you need to use a hammer and a chisel. I friggin hate honey that is almost liquid, it needs to be more like a rock.

I own one, but mostly because I had a phase of getting into speciality honey and was eating honey every day during that time. It's really the optimal tool for the job of getting honey out of a jar and onto your toast while also being easy to clean.

Also, please for the love of God stop buying shitty honey that comes in a bear shaped jar. Go to your local farmers market and pay what you think is way too much money for locally produced honey. Honey where quality really matters and a little bit of really good honey is better than a lot of cheap honey.

Really, my dad raised bees and we had them all the time. I thought everyone did.

I see this design on earwax cleaners. I think the idea is to be useful for retrieving a thick, viscous substance from a tight place. Rather than scooping it, it provides a space designed for the stuff to “get stuck in” the cracks.

Given honey appears in various consistencies, I can see how that would be useful; maybe more for the beekeepers than the consumer.

I got one last week when I got honey as a gift. Don’t know what it’s good for though 😂

Went to a wedding shower that was nature themed awhile back and the attendance prize was a small jar of local honey with one of these attached. I've never used one so I am curious to give it a try.
