Knowing the absurd amount of filament it took to print this monstrosity is making me feel things.

[–] ch00f@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (3 children)

If it helps, it looks like they probably printed the core section at a higher infill to handle the pressure and the left and right sides at a lower infill. You can see seams.

[–] plantfanatic@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 week ago

Steel pipe with a print around it would work too.

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Now I have to factor the time it took a trained engineer to design this 😭

[–] Mnem667@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

More likely that the cut is because they had to print with a build volume. Not many printers outside pure commercial /industrial would print something that size.

[–] ch00f@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

strange then that the seams only run one way. Most printers have fairly cubic build volumes.

Though they could have done it to just reduce the amount of overhang and supports that would be needed. The inner surfaces could have been against the hot plate.

Fascinating. Who owns such a huge and expensive commercial construction 3D printer then green lit the idea to do this

[–] kubofhromoslav@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Someone cool enough 😎

Or some worker have a last day.

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

An actual shitpost lol

[–] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

3d printing? More like 3d pooping 😂🤣.

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Everyone has a built in extruder, if they’re brave enough.

Until now I actually wasn’t sure if you were the same person or just a hilariously similar name, but this is the comment that makes me sure you’re satansmaggotycumfart after all lmao

What a terrible day to have eyes…

[–] enchantedgoldapple@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 week ago

I think you misspelt 'terrific'

[–] Armand1@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's become my hobby to imagine what Imgur memes are by using the comments.

It sounds like.the picture might be a shrek-based 3D printing extruder (I think that's the bit above the nozzle?). Guessing it's either coming out of his ass, his mouth or nose.

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Very close! It's a 3d printed nozzle for a concrete printing machine. The nozzle is a nude shrek in a sitting position, his face is attached to the machine and the concrete comes out his ass.

"GeHHHHR ORTTT UH MAAHHHH SWAFFFMPH!"

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (5 children)

Ok but what are they printing? Makes no sense.

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Yeah I'm so fascinated by the apparent 3d printing of some sort of construction product that I'm barely noticing the Shrek. I want to learn what that is

[–] Wrufieotnak@feddit.org 10 points 1 week ago

Concrete. These are tests with 3D printing a house.

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Looks like a house of some sort? Or just some kind of test shape.

[–] Aarkon@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 week ago

(I hope that I didn’t just miss the irony here) That‘s something I’ve recently seen a video about. It’s a genuine invention meant to save construction workers the effort of building wooden casks and pouring concrete. The exact forms they "print" here look like some sort of test course to me though.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

looks like shit.

i love this

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Was really expecting a different song

[–] justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

I wonder who is cleaning the "nozzle"

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why can't I stop watching it

That happens when it crosses the line to art.

[–] s@piefed.world 3 points 1 week ago

I thought the title implied a Shrek intruder but this is arousing in a different way

[–] FilthyShrooms@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Thanks I hate it
