You forgot #3, do something else crazy to try and distract from this failure. But #2 is definitely in the cards as well.
#2 is happening, but it's too hard for Trump - fortunately for him there are people with their own agendas to do it for him. #3 is his only move because he can't conceive of a better strategy.

My dad is 60 and has had a stroke in Janurary. He's far from perfect, but he's been a good role model for me, made me a better person, and helped me when I realized my mom was more insane each passing day.
This fucker is the oldest one, looks worse, is angry 24/7, and hasn't had one.

His attempts to ethnically cleanse Palestine and build resorts on the coast, and his attempts to steal mineral wealth from Ukraine while under brutal attack by Russia, those attempts have faltered? Yeah, thankfully they have, I'm sure he's still trying though.

This is just how he is. He did the same in his first term. If you took away anger and resentment, he wouldn't have a lot else left in his life.
I also love how he ran as a reformer candidate, as if we didn't have 4 years of evidence of him accomplishing nothing of value for his voters. Social media and 24/7 news have given us all goldfish memories.
It breaks my brain that people voted for him to help the economy. Without even getting into how bad conservatives are for the economy, Trump's first term had crazy high inflation, job loss, and economic crashes. Why would his second term miraculously be the solution to fixing the problems he started?
