I know this is a joke, but it was my ticket out of being harassed at work.
Hell yeah. Matching people's energy and tone have been invaluable for me. And not just in the terrible situations. I find matching kind and energetic people even when I'm not in the mood to be the best cure for my malaise.
nowhere is this more instantly apparent than when somebody is driving at you with the power of 9000 pure white suns as their headlights and you flash them twice to indicate "oi mate I can't fuckin' see" and then you see their headlights throw light up above the trees because they turned their "high" beams on to say "fuck you cunt I don't care"
Treat people as they want to be treated. The needs of the masochist are not the needs of the sadist, to frame it in extremes.
That's silly, why should I treat someone who wants to destroy the planet as they want to be treated?
I’ll take your example and elaborate:
Someone who is destroying the planet is probably the kind of person who views all others as their adversary and feels entitled to take the earths resources for their own.
By setting the rules of the game that way, they have opened the door to the other people on earth viewing them as an adversary and taking their resources for our own.
I have much better experience with just calling people out on their shit in public. Treat people with respect but hold them accountable to a standard.
