In case anyone wants to know why, IIRC that format was popularized online by the Despair Inc demotivational posters of the 2000s.

collapsed inline mediademotivating poster that reads “mistakes: maybe the purpose of your life is to serve as a warning to others”

Which themselves satirized the banal and pompous business inspo decor of the dotcom six sigma era that was ubiquitous on the walls of fart whiffer conference rooms, executive offices, and the like.

collapsed inline mediamotivational framed picture placed that reads “IMAGINATION: What we can easily see is only a small percentage of what is possible.Imagination is having the vision to see what is just below the surface; to picture that which is essential, but invisible to the eye.”

There are still some six sigma adherents in existence. We haven't managed to kill them all off yet.

Oh damn, you’re right! Apparently still a thing.

I’m not old enough to have used it but I read the ISO about DMAIC at some point and my impression was that, as with agile and other hype-jerk methodologies, there are some legit useful ideas to learn from at the start.

But once middle managers start treating it like a religion and pumping certifications it’s time to call the honey wagon.

Six sigma is literally a methodology based on reducing defects on the production scale of millions. Not every business is a high-volume manufacturer, and there's no reason to treat them that way

Oh man I thought six sigma was a funny thing that 30 rock came up with, but it's actually real?

And back then they weren't called "memes" but we called them (de)motivational pictures

What, this is considered old now? Old memes aren't even images, they're just ASCII art. Also HTTPS wasn't a thing back then. Everything on the web transferred in cleartext, which is pretty crazy from today's perspective.

Back in… (counts on fingers)… early 90s… I used to take typewriter classes in Junior High, and we would do ascii art right before holiday breaks.

Man, I still remember the days before firesheep when you could get up to all kinds of fuckery if you knew what you were doing.

Also, completely baffled me that someone thought it was a good idea to only use HTTPS for auth and leave the secure cookie traveling in the clear.

I have a flash drive somewhere with a bunch of demotivational posters on it. One day, I'll stop being lazy and find it.
