So Americans, you ready to put a stop to this yet?

General strike now. Shut it down. Organize, disrupt, disobey.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 66 points 4 weeks ago

Don't worry, there will surely be people left to speak up for us when they come for us.

[–] lka1988@sh.itjust.works 31 points 3 weeks ago (20 children)

Sure, I'll just go ahead and lose my job now and deprive my family of food and shelter before the Nazis get a chance to do so.

I'm all for calling out Nazi bullshit, but blanket statements like this help absolutely nobody.

Unemployed people be like:

collapsed inline media

[–] Steve@startrek.website 27 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I think its called game theory? Or maybe prisoner dilema. We are afraid that enough of the country is in support of the nazi regime that the strikers will lose their jobs

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 24 points 4 weeks ago (6 children)

It's what everyone is conditioned to think and believe

In reality, if they fight they might lose their jobs ...

.... if they wait to see what else happens, they'll probably lose their jobs anyway

You're damned if you do and damned if you don't ... if you do nothing, there is more of a chance of losing everything but if you fight back or at least protest peacefully and disrupt and disobey, there is enough of a chance that you and everyone else will have much more to gain.

Not gonna happen. Half of the country isn't aware anything is wrong.

Hell, a good chunk of them are sold on it. Get a perspective outside of a city, or take, I dunno, North Carolina as an example.

The fuck has happened in NC since January? Nothing, and that's their experience. Same-same, yada-yada. Riot? Why?

I think the general strike is the best bet because they’re looking for a reason or excuse to have the military start massacring civilians. I honestly think a widespread peaceful general strike shutting down the economy until the oligarchs cry mercy is our best hope in this situation

This is absolutely insane and highly illegal. The government cannot just kick down a whole apartment building full of doors, enter homes, and arrest people at random without a warrant or exigent circumstances. The law is quite settled on this.

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 75 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The "law" is being ignored as it was in pre- Nazi Germany when the brown shirts started arresting and beating and intimidating people. There is no law currently.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 20 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The big problem is that there IS law: the kind that favors the government. As of right now, people can't go out and crush some ICE without the courts and police doing something about it.

See thats the fun part is ICE generates their own warrants without any attorneys or judges involved.

They are literally Gestapo.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 18 points 3 weeks ago

ICE Agent scribbles with crayon on a piece of paper

The ICE Agent proudly exclaims “Look! It’s a warrant!”

And y'all think violence isnt the answer? That is literally all their monkey brains can comprehend

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 31 points 3 weeks ago

To these cunts a lack of retaliation is seen as assent.

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 19 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

If even a quarter of those doors had someone returning buck shot this would probably be the last ice raid like that.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Maybe. They would likely call in heavier reinforcement if that became common. Solo fighters stand little chance of making a dent in them even when properly trained and armed. Sadly, that is a situation too many face given so many are so vehemently against violence of any kind. Maybe my ideas are colored by the media and there are more willing to go visceral than the media wants us to believe

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 18 points 3 weeks ago

These cops are functionallly bullies, it they realized there was real danger it would stop them. They've been avoiding anything actually dangerous for a reason. They might be able to call in a swat team for assistance, but it would destroy their ability to do widespread raids if there was legitimate fear for their own safety.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 16 points 3 weeks ago

A single child with a gun held dozens of cops at bay for hours after the "heavier reinforcements" showed up.

These people are cowards and are only acting this way because they know they won't face any resistance.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

You're 100% right.

They're targeting Democratic cities with large numbers of democratic gun owners because they're hoping for a confrontation.

It might be inevitable, but I guarantee you they will not back down once you give them what they have been trying to incite.

There's a reason Miller, Hegseth, and Bondi made an appearance, got all those armed people pumped full of adrenaline, and then literally slipped out the back door yesterday before flying far, far away. They don't plan on being present on the battlefield for the war they're creating.

They need people to fight and die while they give orders and watch comfortably from afar like it's some kind of UFC ultimate match.

I hate the fact that the international community is just sitting by because it's an internal affair and only speaking up about trade issues, etc... That's what gave Nazi Germany carte blanche to do it's thing leading up to 39.

Every sane country on earth needs to be embargoing the fuck out of the U.S., not just for their own sake, but for the sake of forcing the American political establishment to deal with their own fascist problem or become a paraiah on the world stage.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 23 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (4 children)

Yeah but the problem is he didn't achieve power by some manipulation of the vote at least not primarily he achieved it by getting a bunch of Americans to vote for him. A bunch of stupid ignorant Americans wearing silly hats voted for him.

Shy of any evidence to say otherwise he is the democratically elected leader of the United States. All the countries can't be setting the precedent that if they don't like a particular leader they will assist in their downfall.

Besides if Europe playes it's cards right it's about to become the economic superpower of the world. The current economic superpower appears to be continuously blowing their own feet off and giggling.

Wtf is going on? This is like Israel war in our own highly populated cities

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 34 points 3 weeks ago

That's because both Israel and the USA are run by fascists.

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 13 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Refusing to vote brought the war they were protesting to their homes. As I've said all along.

I'm thinking ICE was not given all that funding for nothing. They were probably already over-funded even before this year, and now they have multiples of what they had before.

Ghouls like Stephen Miller want to see that money spent on inflicting pain on others...

So where are the bus loads of lawyers? Even with today’s authoritarian reality, that should be an open-shut case. Even if ICE claims they can write their own warrants, there’s no way they’re motivated enough to write one for every unit in a large building. Their laziness trumps their malice

[–] regedit@lemmy.zip 29 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

They will continue to escalate, also. They need a reason to halt the midterms. If they succeed at raids without opposition they get rid of a lot of people they already don't like, and if we fight back, tRump enacts ~~Marshall~~ Martial Law. We were fucked as soon as SCOUTS said presidents were above the law...

[–] PKscope@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

*Martial

Sorry, it's important.

If you want this to stop, the city/county/state needs to bring felony breaking and entering + kidnapping charges to every individual who approved this and carried it out. And like tomorrow or as soon as humanly possible.

The kinds of people who carry these operations out do not have empathy and will only change their behavior by force. A big list of felony counts and lawyer's fees might make them pause and reconsider.

Where are all those GUNS at America????

[–] thefluffiest@feddit.nl 22 points 4 weeks ago

Just another day in naziland

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 20 points 3 weeks ago

They mounted a tripod gun on the roof of the broadview facility. I challenge anyone to think about "shithole" areas of the world and not envision unmarked paramilitary wearing masks, body armor, and carrying something like an ar15.

If someone entered the sanctity of my home without first presenting an Article III warrant, they'd get a bullet in their skull

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (7 children)

A lot of people like to puff out their chest and say that. I still haven't seen something like that happen in the news for all the times ICE has raided people's homes throughout the country. It could be a matter of time but it'll be exceedingly rare.

How exactly do ICE punks get their authority?

They're not cops, so how can they detain people?

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 26 points 3 weeks ago

mostly from not being shot on sight
