MODERATORS

The same reactionary wingnuts who used to fret a lot about hormones and sports have abruptly pivoted. Not long ago, figures like Peter Thiel and Donald Trump Jr. were hell-bent on keeping testosterone, the elixir of their gods, in its gendered lane. Now they want athletes of all sexes to surge with male hormones. They’ve become pro-doping.

Thus the Enhanced Games (yep, that’s the name), nominally a steroids-addled sports event but in fact a eugenics experiment venture-capitalized with max virility by Thiel and Don Jr.. For extra manly pow, the event’s CEO is Aron D’Souza, a Thiel pal who spearheaded Thiel’s crusade against Gawker Media for the crime of press freedoms.

Why is real life so fucking stupid right now

[–] Ooops@feddit.org 34 points 1 day ago

Because you can't rule earth with just a few handful of ultra-rich overlords without making the masses totally dumb and easily manipulated first...

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 day ago

Because the Supreme Court decided to allow unlimited dark money in politics with Citizens United.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because Biff Tannen time-travelled from 1985 to 1955 to give himself a sports almanac that let him amass a huge fortune on sports betting, which he used to take over the country.

The good news is that all you have to do to fix this is make out with your mom.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 6 points 21 hours ago (1 children)
[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Listen, I don’t make the rules. Just get to second base with your mom and we can all go home.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

I'm just an innocent bystander here, but I specifically remember the last time these two were in 1955, the kid had to run from his mom, and I'm pretty sure the crazy scientist was drunk the whole time, at the very least.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

If the scientist is neither crazy nor drunk, can they truly be said to be a scientist?

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

TIL I may actually be a scientist......

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Now remember, the difference between science and fucking around is ~~writing shit down~~ the size of the explosion

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

would you stop suggesting making out with my mom i'm starting to think you have some kind of octopus complex

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Prove to me it wouldn’t help.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

I would need a shovel for that

[–] PeacefulForest@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The other day I read “every day is the dumbest day, until tomorrow” and I will always remember those wise words.

[–] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

As one of Chevy Chase's characters said, "Every day is better than the next."

[–] chiocciola@lemmy.cafe 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

My guess is that we died during Covid and this is some kind of hell. Even though things were bad before 2020, I feel that the last five years has just been one bad thing beating the last bad thing

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

It makes me think back to episodes of Lost and think “that’s so much more plausible than current reality.”

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Unfortunately though, there are still people at the top living like fucking kings.

So if this were some sort of afterlife, that would imply that they were "good" and got the rewards, and we were "bad," and get the punishment.

[–] chiocciola@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 day ago

They are demons. Not every “human” would be real in hell. That’s why they are getting richer exponentially. It’s just to punish us. Hopefully when we die here, it’s not just another circle ⭕️ 🔥

A weird statistical mix of dumb evil people stumbling into a good situation for themselves on the heels of a lot of good technology created that was deployed completely irresponsibly, it's like winning the shithead lottery. Only saving grace is that they're so dumb the smarts can correct it easily, (lead, IP addresses, or otherwise) but it could still get much worse as anyone that knows business, the dumbs in business can drag the whole company into the deep despite smart people trying to stop the drowning. Smarts can't just come out and slap the dumbs in government though, because ersatz rules and potential death. So it has to be a long-game, that hopefully ends with the dumbs having a painful terrible end, I'd even add confusing as an acceptable feeling in that end state, even though it is cruel, because they deserve it. They'll never learn anyway, and they are laser-focused on cruelty to anyone they don't like, so they really should get to personally enjoy the Old Testament shit themselves. Also why correct 2A peeps haven't acted yet. Risk is too high when you have a pea shooter and some really stupid people are holding the nuclear football.

Big plus though, even if Mango had unicorn piss connections for long life, his heart is failing and he's going to have a Big Mac Shit soon that will take him to a place even the Christian Satan wouldn't want to touch. Probably slightly longer than the usual 6 month time period because child soul injections, but less than a year, probably.

The most annoying part of the now thought, where are the oil barons? Truthfully. Fixing the planet so we get to keep living here is so insanely profitable. There should be so many people plugging solar or wind or old mines as water batteries. The US regression is so confounding.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They're so anti trans they even want their women to be manly.

[–] magic_smoke@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 day ago

Its almost like transphobia is just sexism with extra steps.

These are the sorta guys who think: If they're not hot enough to fuck or my bro they hold no value as a human

[–] Ofiuco@piefed.ca 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I mean, the female beauty standard seems to imply that.

  • Flat chest
  • Straight hips (no curves in general)
  • Recently they want women with a strong jaw and a butt-chin

Like... I'm sorry but what they want seems like a man...

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

maybe you and i pay attention to different beauty standards

[–] Ofiuco@piefed.ca 1 points 5 hours ago

Mostly on social networks, like ig or fb, and the miss universe and shit like that.

Weirdly enough... When I had my account on dbzer0, most of the posts coming from lemmynsfw were flat-chested women, when I moved to .cafe it became the opposite and here on Piefed.ca I rarely see post from lemmynsfw for some reason.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

Yeah. Kinda like white Afghanistan, without the beards.

[–] DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can't believe that this is even real! We have to be living in a simulation. There's no way that the SNL skit "All Drug Olympics" is becoming real life. What the actual shit, man?

SNL All Drug Olympics

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (1 children)

Does it count if it is already real, just not the actual, official, Olympics?

Because I had seen a news article recently about an actual drug-fueled athletics competition somewhere in the world because someone overdosed and died, sparking questions of whether or not the competition should be allowed to exist.

[–] DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

What's killing me here is that this was literally a joke 35 years ago. A joke that was intended for all of society to laugh at. Everyone at the time thought this was stupid and funny. No one laughing at this in the late 80s would have even begun to seriously consider an All Drug Olympics.

We're at a point now where a bunch of demonstrably insane billionaires are really doing this. What the hell is happening?

collapsed inline media

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

FML, i forgot about Peter thiels methhead olympics...

[–] PeacefulForest@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Me too, I was too busy noticing Alex Jones Hitler mustache

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I recommend the QAA podcast - a Qanon debunking podcast originally, but branching out. They did an episode on this weeks ago.

[–] possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

what episode was that? i'm a pretty consistent listener but i have a shit memory

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Have to admit I'm not 100% sure it was QAA - could've been Conspirituality or even KnowledgeFight

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 1 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

poke

edit: actually idk if your app works like mine, so: somebody replied with the episode in q

[–] possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 13 hours ago

nice, thank you!

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Nobody tell them what the body does to excess testosterone.

[–] itztalal@lemmings.world 4 points 11 hours ago

Downvoted for shitty headline.

Bad "journalist," bad!

[–] vegeta@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Line length snorting?

[–] orenj@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 18 hours ago

Nobody tell Patrick Boivin

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But they don't have a say on that though unless they are part of the Olympic committee 🤷

So who cares?

[–] pwnicholson@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They're creating their own events, separate from the official Olympics

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

Title appears to be claiming otherwise, which is what I think the parent comment was taking issue with.
