In a video statement, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu called the growing MAGA conspiracy a ‘monstrous big lie.’

What an odd thing to formally state.

[–] alquicksilver@lemmy.world 130 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I feel like I would suspect them less if they hadn't said anything. Most of Israel's formal statements regarding allegations of Israeli violence are lies, so what would make this statement different?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago

Even more importantly… maga is never gonna let that bone go.

Eh, there was "evidence" (a third-party tweet) that Kirk was worried about being killed by Israel shortly before his death.

It's not like this came out of nowhere.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He was a raging antisemite. Of course a raging antiemetic whack job would be concerned about them killing him.

[–] primrosepathspeedrun@anarchist.nexus 23 points 1 week ago (7 children)

Wait, antisemite definition one 'hates Jews' or antisemite definition two 'thinks Palestinians are people'? Definition one has nothing to fear.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (5 children)

The original, actual, sense.

He’s a white supremacist. He hated anyone who isn’t white. He’s said some pretty horrific things about Jews, even if he’s nominally okay with an Israeli state (because fascists of a feather…)

I didn't suspect they had any involvement before, but now I have some doubts... 🤔

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 48 points 1 week ago

Charles himself said about 6 months ago that he was worried Israel would try to harm him because about a year ago he stopped supporting them over the genocide, so this isn't out of absolutely nowhere. My guess is that it was just a dogwhistle.

The fact that Israel is actually saying it, however? Like... Aight. If they said nothing I would have continued to disregard it, but Israel's statements are around the same credibility level as Russia's, so I kind of have to give credence to the possibility that the exact opposite of what they say is true...

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 75 points 1 week ago (5 children)

I think this means we're at the stage where he's decided it makes more sense to list off all the crimes he's not doing.

List complete.

Shoplifting. Feeding the homeless. Sleeping in his car.

I had zero reasons to suspect Israel in this, but now there is one

[–] mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (6 children)

I hope that people aren't really taking this too seriously as a reason to suspect Israel. There was a LOT of chatter saying that they killed him, by the Nazis of course. A dominant narrative on /pol/ is basically that Kirk got in bed with the Jews and now he's paid the price for trusting them.

From the standpoint of your average left-leaning person, Israel making a statement like this seems completely out of the blue and makes them look really guilty. But there's a whole demographic of people who really think that they did it. I don't think it's too unreasonable that they would make a statement about it. And let me be clear. I absolutely hate Israel with all my heart. But there are plenty of events in this world that they are not responsible for.

More importantly, this seems dangerously close to reasoning like: "You wouldn't defend yourself against these accusations unless they were actually true!" Which is definitely not a good bar to set.

Do things ever go any other way over there? 🙄

Makes sense, they're reaching the point where it's more efficient to list the people they haven't killed.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 1 week ago

For the record, I can believe that Israel has managed to bomb everything in Gaza except Hamas.

[–] answersplease77@lemmy.world 56 points 1 week ago (6 children)

That's true they don't kill nazis; Israeli snipers only shoot babies in the skulls and eyes:

It’s crazy how that’s the least evil way the IDF murders children, they also target their genitals

Confirmed: When I read this headline I thought "uhhh kinda weird; who asked?"

Qanon. Of course Qanon asked.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The murder of Charlie Kirk continues to benefit some of the most powerful individuals and banks with ties to Epstein.

The Senate called for this investigation hours before he was killed

So if anybody was paying attention to that right now instead of the threats of civil war, that would mean that people would be looking at the relationship between Epstein and individuals like Netenyahu, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Peter Thiel, as well as the banks that helped fund them like JP Morgan, BNY, Bank of America and Deutsche Bank.

Or at least, people would be noticing the Republicans have voted 3 separate times to block this investigation starting on the day Kirk was killed.

[–] rustyfemboy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 44 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The "I didn't kill Charlie Kirk" shirt has a lot of people asking questions which are answered by the shirt.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Incidentally, why don't we all play with the same truthiness ruleset?

Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the hit on Charlie Kirk.

We know with certainty that Donald Trump did not order the hit, as he'd be bragging about it.

Israel killed Charlie Kirk.

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.zip 28 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (6 children)

He left behind a wife and two kids. That's how we know Israel didn't do it.

Stolen from here

BTW, Netanyahu having to deal with actual antisemites peddling conspiracy theories sounds a lot like the boy who cried wolf

Holy shit, they killed Charlie Kirk??!

I never even considered Israel could be responsible. Very nice of Netanyahu to clear that up.

"Because charlie kirk was an adult"

Watching Israel cosy up to the far right is like watching someone free themselves from a bear trap, reset it, and start running straight at it again

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

damn, i didn't think they did until they said they didn't. one thing i know is that they can't tell the truth

This sounds exactly what someone who did kill Charlie Kirk would say. /s

Real talk y'all, I didn't even really think to entertain that conspiracy until this.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago
[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago

we're at the point where NothingYahWho has to list who he didn't kill last week.

[–] charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago

Not sure why Israel would do that...not smart enough to come with a creative reason...but, damn, I'm a little suspicious now

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nothing strange here.

It's just like the formal declaration we all made as individuals, to deflect suspicion from ourselves.

Totally normal.
