I don't know much about these Gropers or whatever but if all the attention on this angle pushes them to a MAGA gang war, I'll need to pick up some more popcorn. It's guiltless because, as we all know, gang violence doesn't count.

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 63 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They're already waging a MAGA gang war. Charlie Kirk is a casualty

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 2 days ago

Haha I hope they all kill each other off

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Whatever it takes to make my dream of a "MAGA gang war" news broadcast supercut happen. I want to hear it in different voices out of different faces until the words lose all meaning like the "This is extremely dangerous to our democracy" thing from about a century ago in 2018.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What it takes is being a billionaire with monopolistic control of the media.

At least that's how 'the "This is extremely dangerous to our democracy" thing' happened, anyway: it was ordered by a single entity who had the power to dictate what all those "separate" news stations must say.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Sinclair Broadcast Group is the entity, in case anyone needed another corp to hate today

Just don't get microwave popcorn because the bags tend to be coated with PFAs which get into the butter, then your bloodstream. Always make popcorn the old fashioned way, or buy pre-puffed.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The poison only makes me stronger.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There's an old science fiction short story where the aliens come to eat us and an old farmer volunteers to be the sacrificial victim, and the aliens all die because of the built-up insecticides in his system.

Was it from Silent Sprkng era?

Eh, my water is already filled with PFAs anyways. What's a little more cancer on the pile.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I know you're joking, but the butter in microwave popcorn bags tends to have a much bigger dosage than water does. This is due to getting heated up, and the butter being the right kind of fat to absorb pfas from the bag.

It's a perfect storm for delivering PFAs into you... Which makes sense because PFAs weren't really known about when microwave popcorn was invented.

Also the oil that they use is artificial butter flavored and it causes brain cancer. Like you probably will not get it from eating it but the people that work in the food processing of it will get brain cancer if they breathe in or whatever too much of it. So small amounts might not be great for you either. The Pfas is a bigger concern though.

Yeah, but make sure you show the proper amounts of politically correct mourning and contrition in between your bites of popcorn, I guess.

It's apparently now a criminal offense not to support Nazis in this country.

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 hours ago

It would have if they were all making death threats to Robinson’s roommate.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 78 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Fuentes has been sending his followers to antagonize Kirk for years...

Because they think MAGA should use violence instead of words, and Kirk isn't extreme enough for them.

He's not being "framed", it's just all the information coming it out makes it look like this is just more maga on maga violence.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 43 points 2 days ago

It's just a whole lot of reaping what the entire Republican party has been sowing for decades now.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is the very stupid version of the Night of the Long Knives?

feels like it. you sharp?

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 56 points 2 days ago

"Look, guys, by pointing out all these things that I did, you're making me look like I'm guilty as hell."

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 56 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So, all the Republicans are going to direct all their ire at this guy, right?

The ones screaming to go after millions of Democrats in this country because a random podcaster caught a bullet, and so therefore, it must be that "Democrats are at war with us"? Now that they know it's one of their own, they will apply the same standard to those on the right, that are targeting right-wing podcasters?

I mean, just following their own logic earlier this week...

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Hes an easy target. Open nazi, been caught with trans porn, latino, lives in his mom's basement…

The only worry is that his supporters are all but exclusively exactly the profile of someone who does mass shootings or political assassination in this day and age.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 1 day ago

Also possibly gay.

Then again the open nazi part is why they're okay overlooking everything else

Nah they will just pretend he was radicalized by the left and keep on their original plan. In the news it has not reported that he was a Nick Fuentes follower, they still have it up in the air in the guardian but have mostly been suggesting it was a radical leftist, and even this morning some politician was quoted as saying he was from a good family but he got radicalized left in college.

[–] Bane_Killgrind@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I was listening to the radio this morning. Some dude was on about he is a radical left person.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBLA-FM station for reference.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 7 hours ago

Since I wrote this the Utah government was saying he was a roommates with a transsexual and suggested that was the cause. We should not expect reality too stop these people. Without organization and counter operations we are doomed here. The opposition party is lame and worthless by Design and fighting under their leadership is doomed to fail. Yet we continue to accept them in power.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 45 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

"Tell us the plan. How will the government stop this from ever happening again? Where is the leadership?”

Yes, Nick Fuentes. How will the government stop shootings at...

checks notes

...schools, from ever happening again?

Never thought I'd find an ally in him on that.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What's this? The homophobic incel neo-nazi who streamed his gay porn and then claimed it was mossad is denying something?

[–] hector@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

Fuentes? Someone else just said something about him getting caught with trans porn is that this same story you were referring to? How did he stream this gay and or transporn and get caught?

I do not know who he thinks he is kidding with the mossad comment, Israel is allied with the Nazis against their common foes, the left and non-fascists.

As evidenced by netanyahu's son tweeting in support of the Charlottesville Nazis against antifa that stood up to them.

[–] whiwake@lemmy.cafe 27 points 1 day ago

I actually love that this cunt is making headlines from the death of another cunt.

[–] TheMinister@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Fuentes is known for his white supremacist, misogynistic, homophobic and antisemitic views that he promotes on his podcast. Despite those views, he was famously invited, alongside controversial rapper Kanye West, to dinner with President Donald Trump in 2022.

There is no reported evidence that Fuentes was involved in Kirk’s death. Fuentes did ask his followers to pray for Kirk’s soul on Wednesday following his death.

It’s an abdication of duty to not have the added context, when mentioning his homophobia, of that time he accidentally streamed gay porn and then blamed…Hezbollah? If I’m remembering that part correctly? Hilarious, but should also be permanently part of the description of who he is, along with the whole invited to the White House thing.

He also said “liking girls is gay.” Dudes def gay. Didn’t he have a little boyfriend/pet with him everywhere for a while?

I just learned today. Basically more right than the rightest. Kirk wasn't right enough for them.

so they're from Idaho?

Is there any chance this and the Colorado school shooting that occurred during the same time are connected? Strikes me as very odd that there is very little information being dropped on that one, except for the fact that the 16-year-old was radicalized by an online "white supremacist" group.

What if these were synchronized for a reason and both were groypers?

Also, why is there no wikipedia entry for that event at all? It also makes sense that Fuentes -- in an extremely unusual act of restraint -- was calling on his followers during his show to tone down the rhetoric and don't exact revenge. He knows something, doesn't he?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What if these were synchronized for a reason and both were groypers?

That's an interesting idea, but I think it isn't in the news because school shootings have become so common that nobody (except you) thinks it's anything but random coincidence.

Ditto for why there's no Wikipedia entry: it fails the "notability" requirement.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Nobody is a strong word when one has to immediately contradict that in parentheses. That two identical right-wing extremist events occur simultaneously, both of whom appear to have been radicalized by online right-wing disinformation ops — that doesn't seem beyond the realm of probability let alone possibility. I am also entertaining it; I didn't say I believe it as fact.

Especially when we know for a fact that far-right extremist violence is the number-one domestic terrorist threat, and that both currently have links to antisemitic ideological groups.

How I wish it failed the "notability" requirement; and yet every other single mass-shooting incident has an entry. So why would you come to think this when this an anomalous outlier?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

and yet every other single mass-shooting incident has an entry

Does it? Are you sure they aren't consolidated into a list, like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States_in_2025 or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States_(2000%E2%80%93present)#2025 ? 'Cause I would've thought that if every single one had its own Wikipedia page the lists would link to it, but they don't.

Infighting is the civil war I’m so on board for.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 days ago

Is there any actual evidence this guy was even a groyper at this point? The evidence I saw was pretty unconvincing.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Let them fight!!!
