I'll say this: I agree with the article. It's going to suck, but we need to reorganize our economy such that we cannot be afraid of US threats. Canadians need to come together and demonstrate the power of a social culture to overcome individualism.

Any politicians that express willingness to kowtow to Trump lose my support. Period.

We shouldn't have let ourselves become dependent on them in the first place, but some business owners in the 80s got hella rich, so... I guess it was worth it /s

I see this as partially an opportunity.

In tech things are so US dominated that a XYZ but made and run in Canada is now a valid pitch.

As someone whose contract was cut short in direct relation to these tariffs, I am worried that some industries will suffer and there may be some job loss. I'm definitely expecting to see more job losses in my sector. However I am feeling an increase in faith that the current Canadian government will take good steps to protect as many people as possible from it (I can't speak for after the election).
