My job is not important, so why should I do it?

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Then you shouldn't.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Define important in this context.

Do you have money to survive without this job?

[–] cRazi_man@europe.pub 6 points 2 weeks ago

The definition is important and leads to different solutions. Meaningless work can be because of a bullshit job or because of work alienation.

They pay me at least.

[–] saddlebag@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Started well, ended badly.

The beginning message is that you are being distracted by unimportant things then makes focusing on the job important?? This is some LinkedIn lunatic level lunacy.

Success is not measured by how you focus on your job. Measure your success by living a kind and compassionate life and growing the lives of those around you.

Or don’t, I don’t care. Just don’t make your life about fucking job.

I notice in the US, everyone starts conversations with, "What do you do?" While in Europe it's more about where are you from, what are you doing here, what are your plans today, and things about you.

Maybe get some sense or else know the fact that its a meme sub. Dont pour your sadass advice here. This meme is reminder to the people who just started to use the mobile for some reason and ends up doom scrolling without realising. But you got the whole idea wrong and telling me to learn lmao. Get a real life.

1y later: Your fired for not being successful enough by my personal arbitrary metrics.

“We are here, and this is now.” Constable Visit, a strict believer in the Omnian religion, occasionally quoted that from their holy book. Vimes understood it to mean, in less exalted copper speak, that you have to do the job that is in front of you.

I think it’s important if you’re successful (in whatever it is you’re trying to succeed at) to help at least one other person become successful.

To quote the great 20th Century philosopher John Michael Osbourne:

It's not how you play the game,

it's if you win or lose

You can choose, don't confuse

Win or lose, it's up to you

~~Nothing is important~~ Being true to yourself is important.
Whether that means working hard to do your best or challenge yourself, take it easy because you need rest, or something else.

Sounds like loser talk to me, unless someone is better at something then I am, in which case performance is completely unimportant
