I think they talk about the USA even more over on ML tbh, but with a difference in connotations.

Yeah, I'm guilty. Am American. Migrated to Lemmy when RIF was killed by reddit.
Maybe the problem is that in Europe our news are mostly in local languages. So, if I post something I would need to translate. Or one would need to share something from France24 (English), BBC, Euronews (English), etc. But, the content is not as comprehensive as the national newspapers...
