One of many t things I don’t get about his groupies. They have four years to exploit the country where they are effectively above the law, but how can they not expect justice after that? They should all be considering whether they’re going to prison in five years

Politics has always pendulums back and forth. We may have swung way out in one direction but I still have hope it will swing back again, we will have elections again, people will want hope and change, want to add truth to the meaningless platitudes they made the mistake of voting for.

All the things we were warning against during the campaign have now arrived, and will continue to arrive. We are no longer warning about the danger of a Fascist Government, we now have that Fascist Government.
So your confidence in fair elections, or even having elections at all, is misplaced.
First of all, they ALL believe fervently that they will rule forever, no matter what it takes, up to and including literally killing Democrats, of it has to come to that.
Secondly, they believe, and rightfully so, based on history, that the Democrats will do absolutely nothing to punish them in any substantial way.
IF the Dems ever regain power, it will only be because an extremely intelligent candidate stepped up who is willing to go toe-to-toe, and play Hard Ball with the MAGA Nazis. If that person gets elected, and continues with the classic Democratic bluff strategy, (with EVERYBODY knowing their cards) then MAGAs, or something far worse, will regain power in the NEXT election, and then we're probably totally finished as a democracy.
The next Dem prez better come out kicking MAGA balls, or we're screwed forever.

George W. Bush was an idiot. A man who legitimately didn’t understand politics. He was a puppet, just like Trump. But Trump knows he has power and he uses it purposefully to make people mad. He’s like someone who argues online for dopamine, except it’s controlling a country.
Interesting idea to explain everything - mango Mussolini is merely an internet troll arguing and stoking outrage. Yet somehow the moderators haven’t banned him. Somehow his outraged leaked into reality
It’s like that one user who runs around doing whatever they want because they know the mods. Occasionally they might get a 24 hour ban for being really bad, but that’s just for show. It will never be permanent and ultimately if you want them to stop you have to find where they live and do it yourself.

Takes one to know one. Bad is still bad. Even if we've been the ones to do it. Now we're too busy rounding up anyone that isn't white because our government is a kakistocracy in full reverse. Thankfully we're too stupid to destabilize much but ourselves now.
But that doesn't mean we shouldn't still be trying to help those most affected by it. Just because America designed the hose of misinformation that Russia is now using to destabilize world Democracy doesn't mean we should passively accept it being blasted everywhere.
I mean, if you feel we're responsible, shouldn't we be the ones to fix it if Russia clearly isn't?
I just think a country should stop interfering with other countries if they dont like other countries interfering with them. Why would any country treat America fairly at this point? This adversary stuff needs to die out, there's far more in common between Russian and american people than is different. Its absurd that simply being across the world from a group of people means you can characterize them however you want.
We have the internet now and still people think they are some special group of people, its absurd. We need something to connect the average people of the world. When tiktok went down and people were on chinese social media, that was a good thing.

Trump isn't doing this alone. He can only do this with the blessing of the Republicans and their oligarch masters. And they are all making unimaginable fortunes from doing it, which seems to me to be more of an incentive for them doing it.
Trump is just the symptom, he's not the disease. He has thousands of enablers and supporters throughout government, including the Supreme Court.
If we got rid of Trump tomorrow, the disease would remain; those thousands of people won't disappear. This could not happen in a healthy republic, we're far beyond that now. Super PACs rule and cash is king; both parties are not the same, but they are both bought.
Did you know that foreign countries can also "influence" our parties through Super PACs? Our representatives don't work for "us" any longer, we don't have enough cash to compete against multi-generational corporations and foreign governments.
And our only legal recourse is to ask our representatives to stop gorging themselves. They will not.

Rioting in the streets. Organized resistance. Not going into work, not paying mortgage/rent. You're sitting through a passive civil war where all the "liberties" that were fought and died for in the past 100 years are being stripped away without due process and without legal recourse. What do you think you should be doing about it? Nothing? How's that going?

You gotta do what you gotta do. I was implying concerted efforts, not just one person. They could take all your assets tomorrow if they wanted and no one could stop them. Are you going to wait until they knock on the door to act?
As with many people, it isn't just about me. I am not willing to move my family and my elderly parent onto the streets at this stage.
The government could have taken all my assets at any point in the last 50 years if they wanted. We all have to deal with the current reality. I think we are still at a stage where protesting and voting may be enough to turn things around. Meanwhile, I am supporting local efforts to protect vulnerable people from the new policies. There is organized resistance and it is scaling up.

Understand that I don't entirely disagree with you. Particularly on the first two points. Not going into work and not paying for housing are only effective if large numbers of other people are doing it too. We may get to that point, organized resistance is happening, but anyone doing those things right now is simply going to become homeless and desperate.
People rarely take actions that they know will destroy their lives unless they feel that they have nothing further to lose. More people are reaching that point every day and that may eventually make that kind of resistance effective. For better or worse, the average citizen is not there yet. I hope the growing protest movement will force changes first. It is still early days.
Some of us are working on steps just like the ones you list. I absolutely agree, every American has a responsibility to help end this ongoing nightmare.
